Venting has the pace to lead in what is likely to be a moderate tempo. VENTING (2) fought back gamely when finishing runner-up by a short-head here in a 4-horse field a fortnight ago. He has a terrific record on this track and normally holds his form when fit. He is nicely placed to go one better this time. DUTY (4) last raced 5 weeks ago when finishing fifth here over 1400m. He is more suited to racing over a mile and with a 4kg weight drop, he can bounce back into the money here. HASSELTOFF (1) is a durable veteran who made it 3 wins in his last 4 starts when scoring a soft win by well over a length at Morphettville 4 weeks ago. That sort of form stacks up nicely in this and even with the top weight, he can win again. TINTERN POWER (5) does not win often but has been in the top 3 on many occasions, including his last couple of starts here over a mile. Stick with him for all combinations. PHOENIX FLYER (3) is a former Queensland-trained veteran who still has plenty of zest for racing. He usually takes a run and the market will be your best guide. SUGGESTED PLAY: Venting to win.
