Small field but plenty of pace engaged, including Cochrane, Raetihi and Defiant Boom. TIPSY TIGER (7) is back after a break of six-and-a-half months. Started the last campaign impressively when in the placings over 800m at Ipswich. Strong chance to kick the campaign off on the right note. UPSTART LEGEND (5) got the prize two runs ago at Mackay. Safely held last time out when seventh over 1300m there, beaten 5 lengths after being prominent at the turn. Perfectly placed and is sure to make amends. DEFIANT BOOM (4) was out of the money when resuming from a spell last start over 870m at Toowoomba, beaten 6 lengths after being in the firing line on the bend. Has been in the money at each second-up start. Finds an easier assignment and can take this out. RAETIHI (3) showed good early dash and stalked the pace last start before drawing clear to score by 0.6 lengths over 1100m at Gordonvale. Can figure in the finish again. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Tipsy Tiger with the claim from the inside alley.
