Magnastar to take charge ahead of Eastandwest at a strong tempo. CYPRESS (6) sat 3 wide the whole way here on the first day and was still far too good when scoring by over 2 lengths at BM65 level. He has plenty of scope and would not have taken a backward step since then. On top again. KA YING LUCKY (3) was runner-up on the poly track here just over 3 weeks ago and is just as proficient on the turf, especially when it is wet. He has the pole position, and if that is not a disadvantage, then he will be hard to hold out. TOMASINA (4) has been freshened since finishing a brave fifth as favourite here 7 weeks ago. She was knocking on the door before that, and with the aid of a 3kg claim this time, she can bounce straight back into the money here. MAGNASTAR (5) put together a pair of wins at BM65 level at Oamaru before finishing a sound fourth here on the first day. Stick with him. EYE SPY (7) had to work to find a handy spot from a wide gate at Oamaru nearly 3 weeks ago, and from a superior gate here, she is worth another chance. Each way value. SUGGESTED PLAY: Cypress can take the next step immediately.
