NUM TIME COMMENT
1 09:50 Maiden Race 1800m
MARS ECLAIR (1) is the horse to beat after charging home from what looked a hopeless position to miss by only half a length at Sapporo Dirt. He was big odds there, so the market may not have expected that level of improvement, but the run was the strongest late work in this field and the class drop adds to his appeal. PRIMERA ESTRELLA (3) has been safely held at his past two, yet he is race fit, has placed at around 1800m, and profiles as the next most credible winning hope if he can finish off better than he did at Hanshin. JUN VAGNER (8) has closed well in consecutive fourths and looks ready third-up, though three unplaced attempts around this trip temper the confidence. TAGANO FRIAND (6) was a solid debut third at big odds over 2000m and, despite trying 1800m for the first time, has enough early race experience to remain a genuine minor threat.
2 10:20 Maiden Race 1600m
BLOSSOM SPEAR (3) sets the standard after being sent out favourite on debut at Hanshin and finishing third, beaten a long neck, in a 2yo NEWCOMER. He tracked the speed and lengthened into the placing, which gives him the most immediate winning profile, even with 1600m still to be proven. RAY QUEEN (8) is the obvious danger and brings the cleanest exposed consistency, with two placings from two starts and a half-length second to Break Girl last time. JONG GOD (7) is the rebound runner: he was odds-on on debut at Kokura but faded into eighth, so the market respect, strong stable profile and breeding keep him in the mix if he returns sharper. KISHIGE HERO (4) was fourth at Hanshin at big odds on debut, beaten just over three lengths, and that race experience gives him a sound place-to-winning bridge if he finds a stronger finish second-up.
3 10:50 Newcomer Race 1400m
TAGANO GALE (14) is the top selection on debut, with the Tagano family profile giving him a sound base for this 1400m dirt assignment. Tagano High Bridge placed on debut over 1400m and three half-siblings were with the same trainer, so the stable should have a good handle on the line. IN YOUR SKY (5) brings a strong debut-stable angle, with Tatsuya Yoshioka striking at 17% with first starters and placing at 33%, while the Drefong combination has returned a 43% place rate. RAMUNE (15) has a deep producing family and gets Kohei Matsuyama, one of the stronger rider bookings in the race, although the wide barrier is the natural query. MIHO MARU (1) draws ideally and has the best sibling reference, with full brother Yukimaru a seven-time winner who scored on debut over 1400m.
4 11:20 Newcomer Race 1400m
BRIGHT SCRIPT (5) is the preferred newcomer, with the Saturnalia filly drawn sensibly and backed by a stable debut profile that produces plenty of first-start placegetters. Her family has already thrown Stir Heart, a two-time winner, so she has enough substance to make a strong first impression. LYRIC LOVE (7) brings the deepest pedigree, being by Lord Kanaloa from Epic Love and from the family of G1 winner Danon The Kid, with Koshiro Take's debut figures adding further appeal. BADGIR (2) has a kinder draw than most and gets Kohei Matsuyama, which keeps her right among the winning chances. SOUND AMUSE (12) has the light 51kg and is respected from the Kota Kato yard, with that weight edge giving her a genuine platform on debut.
5 12:10 Newcomer Race 2000m
JUN KING (3) profiles as the horse to beat on debut, combining a Kitasan Black pedigree with a 143000000 Select Sale background, barrier 3 and the Y Tomomichi-Yuga Kawada partnership. The stable has a solid first-starter record and the trainer-sire figures add further substance. G T GANG (6) has the deepest family page, being by Kitasan Black from Serienholde and a half brother to G1 winner Schnell Meister, with several siblings showing early ability. PYTHEAS (9) is another genuine danger from the Buena Vista family, with Coronacion and Social Club both winning on debut at Kyoto, although barrier 9 leaves him with a touch more to do. ZAKINO SUGAR (10) has a wider draw but is related to Enjolras, who was second on debut over 2000m, and has enough pedigree depth to press for a minor end of the finish.
6 12:40 Allowance Race 1800m
MARGOT BUDDY (12) sets the standard after a second at Hanshin Dirt, beaten a length and a half, and he has now placed at both runs this campaign. His distance profile is the strongest in the race and the Sameshima combination reads well, so he deserves top billing. ECHIGO DRAGON (5) is the immediate danger after getting within a length at Sapporo Dirt last start and he should be at peak fitness third-up. SHINE BECK (16) is harder to trust on recent finishes, but the class relief keeps him in the winning mix if he can make use of the rise back to 1800m. BOOM BAP BEAT (4) brings reliable 1800m substance, including a win and a placing from three starts at this track and distance, and first-time blinkers give him another angle after a beaten-favourite fourth.
7 01:10 Allowance Race 1200m
BERSA (9) has returned in excellent order, placing at both runs this campaign and only being run down late when third to Dandenong at Hanshin. She brings the strongest recent profile and is well placed to peak third-up. GLORIOUS MARCH (2) answered a plain second-up run with a sharp Sapporo third behind Rule The Wave, closing off to be beaten just over a length, and his overall place consistency keeps him right in the contest. MOONLIT ISLE (14) is reliable at this trip and beat Nishino Tribute home at Hanshin, though she still has to turn consistent placings into another win. ARLINGTON ROW (12) has been fourth at his past two, including a long-neck defeat at Chukyo, and his turf record gives him a genuine chance if he finds a touch more late.
8 01:40 Allowance Race 1400m
JUNE AGAIN (6) is the horse to beat after putting them away by seven lengths at Hanshin Dirt, starting favourite and beating Flame Star with real authority. His record at around 1400m is a major strength, with two wins and one placing from four runs, and the same rider stays with him. ECOLO BOLT (7) also arrives off a win, having led throughout at Sonoda in 3yo+ COND grade and scored by just under two lengths from Z Spunky. The prior 12th at this venue was poor, so he has to confirm that rebound back in this company. ZAKKUZAKU (10) is the reliable danger, beaten just under two lengths at Hanshin Dirt last start after closing well and bringing a deep 1400m record. LIGHT OF NUKATA (1) worked home evenly for fourth behind Yamanin Baroness at Hanshin Dirt and has a perfect two-from-two record at this track, making him a genuine winning hope if he lifts off that first-up run.
9 02:15 OHARA STAKES 2000m
LORD FILER (18) is the horse to beat despite the wide draw, having put together wins at Chukyo and Niigata this campaign and backed them with a strong overall profile of three wins and two placings from six starts. His latest success over 2200m came by just under two lengths from Black Olympia, and his record around this distance is already convincing. CHERNOBOG (4) appeals as the main danger after a sound first-up fifth at Hanshin, beaten only a length and a half, with his proven 2000m record and strong Kyoto figures adding substance. FIRM TWENTY (12) was second to Joy Boy at Hanshin last start at generous odds and has been highly consistent this season, although his 2000m record is more place-heavy than winning. LADY MYKONOS (3) brings a sharp last-start second to Cor Leonis and strong track statistics, but she is trying 2000m for the first time, which keeps her just behind the top trio.
10 02:50 FUJINOMORI STAKES 1200m
DON REPULSE (13) is the top pick after resuming with a determined neck win over 1200m at Nakayama Dirt, beating Wanderer in 3yo+ ALLOW grade. He has a handy track-and-distance record and that recent win gives him the clearest current platform among the main hopes. LORD FRONTIER (5) is the obvious threat, having placed at both runs this campaign and finished only a length and a half from Yukimaru last start after also beating Conquista at Niigata Dirt the run prior. CONQUISTA (8) has been costly as favourite but remains a strong overall performer, with seven wins and nine placings from 24 starts and another solid fourth at Niigata Dirt last time. ENYA LOVE FAITH (9) brings winning form after charging home to beat Innocent Cat by a neck at Niigata Dirt, and his earlier fourth at this venue keeps him right in the race if he reproduces that finish.
11 03:30 THE KYOTO DAISHOTEN 2400m
DANON CIMA (18) is the one to beat on consistency and suitability. He was beaten only a head as favourite in the G3 Niigata Kinen and had also run third in the G2 Meguro Kinen, while his record at this distance and this track is excellent. SAVONA (14) is the main danger after a much better fourth at big odds in the Niigata Kinen, and his distance record gives that run a solid platform if he can hold that level third-up. AQUA VERNAL (6) resumes off strong staying form, including a close fourth in the G1 Tenno Sho (Spring) at this venue, and her track-and-distance profile keeps her firmly in the winning mix. DEEP MONSTER (3) brings proven class, a recent G1 placing at Sha Tin and an excellent record at this track, so he has the substance to win fresh if close enough when the race is decided.
12 04:10 Allowance Race 1200m
LORD TRESOR (7) is the top pick on a set-up that looks much more suitable than his latest eighth at Niigata, where he was only beaten two lengths and made good late ground over 1000m. He comes back to a distance where his record is solid, gets weight relief and has enough recent depth to take this out. I NEED YOU (11) resumes with strong form credentials after a half-length second at Chukyo and a narrow Hanshin win over Birthday Flight, though 1200m is new for her. MARGOT MIST (14) brings winning form after holding off From Raven at Hanshin and has placed twice from two runs at this venue, so the last-start victory has substance despite the wider draw. MONT SAINT GOLDEN (5) was close enough when fifth to Vogel at Chukyo, is already a winner at this track and distance, and profiles as the type who can rebound from a moderate previous run.
