CHAI WAN KOK HANDICAP 1650m
ORIENTAL SURPRISE (12) is the one to beat after going within a neck at Happy Valley as favourite. His trial leading into the campaign on this surface was superb and he's placed in his only try at this track and trip. Building nicely and he can go one better this time around. DOUBLE BINGO (1) has not landed a blow in two runs back, but he is third-up and on a quick back-up that suits. A much better barrier this time around is a big tick and he can sit much closer this time. Looks well placed back in grade to turn his form around. HAPPYDEARHAPPYDEER (14) resumes after honest closing efforts last campaign and gets in light with an apprentice claim, with synthetic placings to support his case. SOARING BRONCO (4) can feature on his best form and he can recapture that now third-up. |

KWOK SHUI HANDICAP 1200m
KOL (13) had trialled well going into the campaign and was only 1.8L off the winner on resumption. Purton now takes the ride which is a good push for his chances. Can sit handy from the outset and put his best foot forward. COPARTNER A I (3) has only raced once, yet that debut third at this venue over 1200m gives him the right exposed line. Ho hops on board now and if he can run to that level here, he'll be hard to fend off. SAME TO YOU (14) settled midfield and was solid at Happy Valley when only 1.5L off the winner. Hasn't won for a while but the fresh effort was a positive sign and he won't be far away. TEN LOVES (1) has recent form to turn around, but his time profile and past 1200m win keep him in the winning mix if he sharpens second-up. |

MUK MIN HA HANDICAP 1650m
CHANCHENG GLORY (1) is the class runner of this field having tackled G3 company at the end of last campaign and only finishing 4.3L away in the Champions Mile three starts back. Trials this time in have been plain, but this is much easier than what he's been racing in. Can end his winning drought. SING DRAGON (3) brings race fitness and sharp all-weather credentials, having won five of 11 on synthetic tracks and landed his latest on the turf course here despite being unwanted in the market. That sets him up nicely back onto his preferred going. He's the main danger. TALENTS AMBITION (2) resumes off a C3 win at this venue as a well-supported favourite and has Purton back aboard. Can pick up from where he left off. SKY VINO (7) loves this track and trip and makes plenty of appeal with no weight on his back from the inside barrier. |

LO WAI HANDICAP 1400m
SUPERB GUY (13) is the top pick after a first-up third at this track, beaten a neck behind Rattan Galaxy, when he was solid in the market and improved sharply on his 1600m failure two runs back. Purton sticks now and while he's a long-time maiden, the fresh run suggests a win is just around the corner. THE ALL ROUNDER (8) was excellent in the same race, charging into second after being short of clear running early in the straight. He too is still a maiden, but he can sit closer this time around and make his presence felt. TURBO JEFFERIES (1) is harder to assess, but the drop to Class 5 gives him scope to improve on two plain eighths. RATTAN GALAXY (4) has already beaten key rivals over this track and distance, winning first-up as favourite after a nose defeat the run before. Can go on with the job. |

SHA TSUI HANDICAP 1650m
CHILL KAKA (7) gets the nod on consistency, having finished third at this track and distance at his final run before the break when sent out favourite, after another placing at this venue the start prior. He'll be fitter for two trials coming into this and he looks to get every chance from the draw. FIREFOOT (8) is the race-fit danger, arriving off a half-length second at Happy Valley and bringing a strong record on this track. Back onto the All Weather now is no issue and Teetan sticks with him. Can land in a forward position and go one better this time around. VIVACIOUS WIN (4) resumes with Purton back aboard, blinkers on for the first time and a solid 1650m record. His recent trial was impressive with Purton on board and everything points towards a forward showing. NIGHT PUROSANGUE (6) won well before the break here and hasn't gone backwards judging by his latest trial. Can pick up from where he left off. |

THE YAN CHAI TROPHY (HANDICAP) 1400m
POSITIVE SMILE (3) was in the market first-up but faded out of contention. He's been back to the trials since then where he's been super for Purton who remains with him today. Usually improves with a run under the belt and sharp improvement is on the cards. GRAND PATCH (2) brings the cleanest recent form, having been held up before running on for fourth beaten two lengths after a win at this track from Ka Ying Glory, and he has a recent edge over Positive Smile. Won a recent trial and can feature in the finish. SHOTGUN (9) resumes with two solid trials undser his belt and is a track and trip winner in the past. Poon sticks from the latest trial and he won't be far away. HERO RISING (8) is still a maiden, but his first-up fourth at big odds had merit after doing work and he has upside if he can build on that run. |

SHAM TSENG HANDICAP 1400m
QUICK CONTRIBUTION (14) missed as favourite before the break, missing by 2L when getting well back from the wide draw. He'll be better for a recent trial and drawing the inside is a big tick for his chances. Remains down in the weights and can notch up his maiden victory. NEXT FORTUNE (10) is the danger despite an eighth first-up. He's better than what he showed there and although he's turned ina plain trial since, getting out in trip looks a big tick for his chances. Can improve quickly. POLAR PATCH (12) has trialled nicely coming into this after having no luck when caught wide throughout to end last season. Can return with a bang. LADY'S LOVE (3) resumed with a two-length third at long odds and now gets Purton from barrier one, which keeps him firmly in the winning conversation. |

THE CHINESE RECREATION CLUB CHALLENGE CUP (HANDICAP) 1800m
FLOW WATER FLOW (5) gets the nod off two close runs at this venue, fourth over 1400m when beaten just under two lengths most recently. Purton trialled him recently and sticks from that outing as he steps out to 1800m where he was a winner last season. Still has some upside and can get back to winning ways. CALL ME MAGNIFIQUE (3) resumes off a 2000m win at this track, albeit at long odds. His latest trial suggests it's not a fluke though and the inside draw should see him in the firing line from the outset. He's a fresh winner in the past and looks a leading chance. HYMNBOOK (9) gave a solid return when third at Happy Valley, beaten just over a length. Out to this trip looks a bonus and he won't be far away. |

SHEK WAI KOK HANDICAP 1650m
DRAGON AIR FORCE (1) has been racing at big odds, but it looks as though he's been waiting for a race like this. He wasn't fast enough over 1000m last start but now out to 1650m on the All Weatrher where he boasts a good record. Blinkers go on for the first time and it wouldn't surprise to see him turn his recent form right around. BLOSSOMY (8) resumes off a CL4 win at Happy Valley, where he chased down Charming Legend and scored by a length. He's had two trials in readiness for his seasonal rewturn and Atzeni sticks from the latest trial. Can pick up from where he left off. STORMI (6) has deep 1650m form, was beaten a nose two back at Happy Valley. Won a recent trial and with his early speed, he'll give a bold sight. THRIVING BROTHERS (4) can improve with the fresh run under his belt and his step out to 1650m is a big tick. Can be in the finish once again. |

SHING MUN HANDICAP 1000m
CONGHUA GALAXY (9) gets the nod after a strong first local run, finishing third at this track and beaten a length and a half by Alpha Strike despite being unwanted in the market. He'd trialled well going in and the wide draw is a big tick for the straight course. Better for that run now and he can raise the bar. LAHORE (14) resumes after closing last campaign with two CL4 wins at this venue, including a head win from Beauty Thunder. Up in grade now, but he's shown good ability and his figures suggest he's capable at this level. Can extend his winning streak without surprising. INVINCIBLE STEED (10) was only just under two lengths away in that same Alpha Strike race and owns a reliable 1000m record. SMART OINK (6) is the fresh local wildcard, last seen winning at Caulfield after a close Sandown-Lakeside placing. Trial coming in was solid and he can feature in his HK debut. |

YAU KOM TAU HANDICAP 1200m
SOLID STATE (2) missed as a $1.5 favourite last start when unable to catch the winner, though out to 1200m looks right up his alley. He's a speedy customer and with Purton on board, he makes plenty of appeal. Ticks plenty of boxes and can bounce back to winning ways. LUCY IN THE SKY (3) arrives race-fit after putting Chill Buddy away by just under two lengths as a well-supported favourite. Drawn out this time, but it's hard to knock what he did there and he won't be far away. PACKING GLORY (10) resumes off a CL4 win and has never missed a place in three runs at this track and distance, so he has genuine upside if ready to go fresh on the back of a couple of nice trials. BUNTA BABY (5) returned from a break with a solid fifth, winding up late at the end of 1000m at Happy Valley after settling well back. Solid top-three hope. |
