NUM TIME COMMENT
1 12:34 MOTTI MIDLIFE CLASSIC QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1000m
Plenty of first starters engaged which makes it tricky to map, but we can assume a solid tempo. NICCO NOTA FIGHTER (11) is the one to beat on the strength of his Cairns second, where he was beaten just over half a length by Formal Affair and had Booming Belief behind him. Better off clean overlooking his Mackay failure, suspecting he rebounds here. BOOMING BELIEF (9) brings consistent form, having placed at Cairns then run second at this track, beaten just over a length. Like her back to 1000m, she's race-fit and knocking hard. BEERSHEBA (1) is the key debutant after winning a local trial, though barrier 11 and 60kg leave less room for error. HARRY HOT LAPS (3) also debuts off a solid trial at this venue and draws to get a fair introduction, making him a genuine chance if that trial form transfers to race day. BETTER OPTION (2) is another debutant that's worth a market watch.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Siding with Nicco Nota Fighter.
2 01:05 TOWNSVILLE EARTHMOVING QTIS Maiden Handicap 1200m
Solid tempo with Queen Of Russia possessing enough dash to find the front. BLAZING FUTURE (1) steps out in new colours and drops back from two provincial fourths at Hawkesbury. The two-month freshening, inside draw, and positive gear angle give him enough upside. IT'S SHOWTIME (3) is the most reliable exposed maiden, fourth at this track last start after a Cairns second and already placed five times from seven attempts at the distance. BELINDA'S RUBI (9) is better judged on her third at this venue two runs ago, when well-supported favourite and beaten just over half a length, rather than the Bowen run where she raced wide throughout. TOI TOI (8) was pipped at this venue two back and had some interference late at Bowen, so she remains a genuine place-to-winning hope if she handles the rise back to 1200m. FARNANHEIT (2) has caught the eye in his last two and can cause a late scare if the pace is genuine.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Blazing Future to win.
3 01:40 DANS AUTOMOTIVE QTIS Maiden Handicap 1609m
Strong tempo with Waylon and Overland leading from Moonya Lad and Mo Spirit. OVERLAND (3) has the strongest winning case after consecutive seconds at this venue, beaten a nose two back and a long neck on soft ground last time when sent out favourite. He has been costly for punters, but his recent margins and Ryan Wiggins staying involved keep him on top. ROTH AUTHORITY (7) is the logical danger, having placed at his past two runs at this track and already shown he handles the 1609m. He has finished behind Overland recently, yet his consistency gives him a breakthrough chance. BUSH ETIQUETTE (11) brings lighter-weight appeal and was not far away when fourth here last time out. In the mix. MOONYA LAD (1) consistent maiden with four straight placings and Ben Kennedy back aboard. The first try at 1609m is the query but include.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Overland to break through.
4 02:15 COWBOYS LEAGUES CLUB OPEN Handicap 1000m
Hartshorn has good early speed and can set a decent tempo. OUTBACK ACTION (1) gets the nod on the strength of his Bowen second, where he charged from well back and missed by a nose, then last start made ground after being slow away at Emerald. Weight relief and the first-time blinkers mean he can go a bold race. TIME TO PROPHET (3) brings the winning form after holding out Outback Action at Bowen and is already proven at this track and trip, with the 3kg claim another useful factor. TURN BIRD (2) is in career-best touch, winning here before missing by a nose on soft ground last start. Has claims. HARTSHORN (4) is the specialist angle, with two wins and three placings from six starts at this track and distance. In the mix.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Box Trifecta 1,3,2,4.
5 02:50 SIGNARAMA Class 2 Handicap 1000m
Boom Bunny to go to the lead at a genuine tempo. EXTRA FREE (7) gets the nod on the strength of proven track-and-distance form and a suitable return to 1000m after finishing fourth in a 3yo+ Class 4 at Ewan. He was hampered shortly after the start there and covered ground, yet was only beaten two and a half lengths, and his record at this track and distance gives him a solid platform. SPIRITOF THE OCEAN (10) is the immediate threat after going under by just over half a length on soft ground at this venue in a BM55. Right in play. VERY GOOD (8) brings a sound 1000m profile and comes through a 3-4yo Open placing at this track, though she was held behind Nottington Prince that day. NOTTINGTON PRINCE (2) resumed with a good second in the same race, has two wins and two placings from five attempts around 1000m, and is a genuine player again if he builds off that fresh performance.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Nottington Prince each-way.
6 03:25 LADBROKES BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1200m
Solid tempo with Kickoff possessing enough dash to find the front. KICKOFF (4) has the right blend of current form and race fitness, having won a BM55 at this track before being beaten a nose in a BM60 here as favourite. She comes in lighter, draws well and has enough local form to be treated as the one to beat. CHARTWELL (1) is the clear danger after a BM70 win at this track and a close Class 5 third behind Metalcraft. Key runner. FABULEAN (6) has been close up in successive runs at Mackay and Bowen, gets Sean Cormack back aboard and is well proven at 1200m. LOOMING ONE (9) has found form at this venue, winning last start after a narrow second, but both recent peaks came at BM55 level. Genuine each-way threat.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Kickoff to win.
7 03:59 BUNDABERG RUM RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1200m
South Bullaway should use the inside draw to advantage and lead with Tsunami and Dark Fae. DIAMOND LUCY (9) is in good form, having won a 3yo+ Class 3 at Bowen by just under a length and she is already proven at this track and distance. Can repeat the dose. HELL OF A BENTLEY (4) is the main danger after a one-length third at this track on soft ground. Has third-up fitness in his favour, though he is still chasing a first 1200m win. CERETTI (12) comes off a clear-cut Maiden win at Bowen and has the right profile, but she is new to this venue and steps back into a deeper race. Watch the markets. TSUNAMI (5) has been racing consistently, gets weight relief and his previous track-and-distance win keeps him in the mix.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Diamond Lucy to go back-to-back.
8 04:38 QUALITY FABRICATIONS AND WELDING PTY LTD Class 6 Handicap 1400m
Good pace expected with Brave Agenda, Ready Tiger and Toranaga paving the way. HOT DIGITY BOOM (2) is the one to beat after missing by a nose in a BM70 at this track. The rise to 1400m is supported by a solid distance record, and the weight relief strengthens the case. On top. TORANAGA (10) has put together two narrow seconds, the latest here behind Rock The Sunrise, and his record at this track and distance plus the Ivo Fry pairing make him the clear danger. BRAVE AGENDA (8) was only beaten just over a length first-up in a BM60 and strips fitter with a sizeable weight drop. In the mix. READY TIGER (6) comes off a narrow BM65 here and is honest enough to be included, though the return to 1400m is a question.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Hot Digity Boom to go boom.
9 05:10 LADBROKES TOTE WIN +10% in OCTOBER BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1609m
Magic In Me has good gate speed and likely to set a genuine tempo with the advantage of the inside draw. BRITISH GEM (11) is the one to beat with her latest eighth at this track better treated than the bare margin after she raced wide from the 800m as favourite. Her fourth in a 4yo Quality at Cairns the run prior reads well for this, she gets clear weight relief, and two wins from three starts here reads well. MAGIC IN ME (10) is the veteran danger after a sound second in a BM55 at Mackay, with his wet-track record a genuine asset. In the mix. BETA BETTER (6) comes through the key local form having beaten Eagle Warrior by two lengths in a BM55 at this track and distance, and her course-and-distance credentials keep her right in the contest. LONE FORCE (3) has been consistent, was beaten a nose in a BM68 at Bowen, and brings enough recent substance to be a genuine winning player despite still chasing a win at this trip.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Box Trifecta 11,10,6,3.
