SAWTELL CHILLIFEST COUNTRY BOOSTED MAIDEN PLATE 1005m
Plenty of pressure on from the outset.
EGYPTIAN LASS (7) is a five-year-old mare lining up for the 22nd time but such is the quality of this field she looks a good thing. Raced handy and battled on well for another minor placing last start over 1050m at Inverell. Just needs to hold that form to take care of these. KOBI EXPRESS (4) is back for a second campaign following a four-month spell. Showed plenty of natural pace when last in work but struggled to finish his races off. Will go forward from the inside gate and give backers a sight. DAWN RIDER (3) has transferred from Ciaron Maher to Donna Grisedale since failing on debut over 1150m at the Beaumont track in February. Trialled okay recently and should be thereabouts. ARAKOOLA (2) is a locally trained first starter who placed at his only public trial. Expect a decent showing. ANOTHER BLING (1) next best after a couple of plain efforts to kick off this prep. SUGGESTED PLAY: Egyptian Lass to win. |

SAWTELL NIGHTS MAIDEN PLATE 1505m
Best Eagle has good early speed and can set a decent tempo.
CHARMED CHOICE (2) settled just off the pace then battled on fairly without threatening when fresh from a spell over 1200m at Murwillumbah last start. That was his first run since switching from Waller to Maryann Brosnan. Likely improver out to this more suitable journey. DANCING TILDA (3) backs up five days after a decent fourth in heavy going over 1400m at Taree. Filled a placing three back at his only try over today's distance. Going well enough to trouble this line-up. BEST EAGLE (1) led for the judge but couldn't keep going at his latest appearance over the mile at Rockhampton. Lightly raced gelding well served by coming back a touch in distance. PLAY IT COOL (5) has been in the money at two of three runs at Coffs, both on heavy tracks. Must be considered under today's conditions. COOK MY GOOSE (7) can improve second-up over a bit more ground. SUGGESTED PLAY: Charmed Choice on top in an uninspiring maiden. |

SAWTELL HOTEL CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1205m
Expecting Golden Copper to take up the running with The Lupercal and Rethink It close at hand.
RENTESSIS (1) missed the kick then went through his gears well to get up for fourth last start over 1030m at Grafton. Perfectly placed out to this distance at the third run back from a spell. Lightly raced three-year-old who looks ready to double the win tally. Consistent mare MEDDLESOME (5) picked up impressively to just get the prize last time out over 1400m at Inverell. Kept fresh since that success 37 days ago. Placed three of five at this distance so expect her to be in the finish again. THE LUPERCAL (3) doesn't win out of turn but his recent efforts have been sound in shorter races than this. Up a little in grade today but gets some welcomed weight relief. One of the better chances. RETHINK IT (6) failed by a head over this course and distance in heavy going two back then disappointed over 1400m at Inverell last time. Can bounce back off a five-week freshen up. MONTE OUTLANDER (4) probably needs this run but he is always competitive at this circuit. SUGGESTED PLAY: Retessis to win. |

SAWTELL BOWLING CLUB CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1405m
Expecting Pride Of Lanka to take up the lead at a genuine tempo. CALVARY (6) was narrowly beaten in consecutive runs before tiring late in a disappointing performance over the mile at Ballina last Sunday. Draws the fence and won't mind the step back in trip. Can bounce back in a moderate affair. LOLITA (3) was a month between runs when a respectable fourth last time out over 1205m at Grafton. Has been tried twice at this distance and failed but those runs came at the end of last prep. Well in on 55kgs and should be right there at the business end. ADEQUATE EZE (1) came with a sustained run from well before the turn to win his maiden last start over 1205m at Grafton. Ran a couple of nice races over this distance when last in work. Well placed to keep the ball rolling. THE COMANCHE (4) has mixed his form this prep, with the best effort a second two back on heavy ground over 1509m at Port Macquarie. In the mix with a similar performance today. BRAIN WAVE (2) can surprise fresh from an eight-week let-up. SUGGESTED PLAY: Cavalry on top. |

WOMEN LIKE US @ SAWTELL RSL MAIDEN HANDICAP 1305m
Genuine tempo with the speedy Goodonya Ausbred leading the way. MISS BUGATTI (9) came from next to last on the corner to get up for second last start over 1280m at Muswellbrook. Drops 2.5kgs under today's scale. Holding her form deep into the prep and looks a big chance to break through in a shallow field. The one with upside is GOODONYA AUSBRED (1) who boxed on well for second on debut last time out over 1218m at this track. Enjoys the perfect run out of gate one and the slightly longer trip is a positive. ANTONUCCI (4) returned from nearly a year on the sidelines with a respectable fourth over 1210m at Port Macquarie recently. Will take a lot from that run and with 2.5kgs less after the claim she looks nicely placed to play a key role. LA REGINA (8) returns from a four-month spell for a second campaign. Got better as the prep wore on when last in work. Expecting a bright resumption to racing. THE CAVALIER KID (6) can improve over a bit more ground at the second run back from a spell. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Miss Bugatti and Goodonya Ausbred. |

SAWTELL RSL SAWTELL CUP 1505m
Solid tempo anticipated with Zou Big Boy leading the way.
RUN RORY RUN (5) impressed when fresh from a spell over 1250m at Taree last start, driving hard late to be beaten under a length in a BM82. Doesn't boast a great second-up record but he revels in heavy going and this step up in distance is ideal. GHOST WALKER (4) continued his excellent recent form with a game second in open company over this distance at Port Macquarie last time out. That run followed a 45-day reset so he should exhibit some improvement here. One of the key contenders. SUPREME COMMAND (1) led all the way for a well-deserved win a fortnight ago at Port Macquarie, defeating Ghost Walker. Goes up 5kgs which is a worry but he loves heavy tracks and is in a rich vein of form. CAPO STRADA (2) improved sharply last start when second-up from a break over 1400m at Inverell. Needs this sort of trip now so another big run looks on the cards. ZOU BIG BOY (10) is a free roller who is racing well but is without a win for 13 months. Each-way chance down in the weights. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Run Rory Run in a race of many chances. |

SAWTELL GOLF CLUB COUNTRY BOOSTED BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1005m
Cracking tempo with Speedy Target and Personal Space leading the way. FLYING SHELLY (1) scored over 1218m here first-up then struggled at Doomben last start in a much better race than this. Placed at three of five runs over today's trip. Finds a pretty plain BM58 and she looks a big chance to return to the winner's list. OLUFSEN (2) raced handy but couldn't quite finish his race off over 1050m at Inverell last time out. Backs up nine days later over a slightly shorter trip which will suit. Should give a good account. SHE'S A WILD ONE (12) went close two back over a similar trip to this in heavy going at Port Macquarie. Disappointed most recently at Moree but a return to form is likely in this moderate affair. BRAZEN BRANDO (3) lines up for the 104th time. Racing very well on heavy tracks of late. Boasts a fine record over many seasons at this trip so he looks a solid each-way contender. LORD SEYMOUR (4) has performed well at both trips to Coffs Harbour this prep. One of the better hopes with the help of an inside draw. SUGGESTED PLAY: This looks a nice race for Flying Shelly. |
