GRAND CASINO 1600m
NIGEL (1) has found form at the right time, and his last 2 starts have produced a pair of hard-fought efforts for second. This field is not strong, and even from a wide gate, he goes on top for us. ROCKMAN (2) was less than 2 lengths from the winner when making his South Island debut here 4 weeks ago over 1300m. He was placed over this trip at Hawera prior to his move South, and he will be a quick improver in this. Follow your money. RESILIENT (6) raced greenly and only battled home here on debut 4 weeks ago. Expect a much better effort this time over 1600m. Stick with him. FRIENDOFTHEDEVIL (9) fought on bravely when finishing close up in fifth place at Riccarton 12 days ago. She carries 3kg less this time, and she can bounce straight back into the money. JUST HENRI (8) is a lightly tried 9YO mare racing in good form. She won't lack fitness, and she has each-way claims again. SUGGESTED PLAY: Nigel is overdue to breakthrough. |

POSITIVE SIGNS + PRINT 1400m
Expecting Manu Vuka to take up the lead at a genuine tempo. CRACKBONES (1) has been heading in the right direction with his form, and he stuck to his task gamely when finishing runner-up at Oamaru 2 weeks ago. He is ready to go one better. DREAM ROMANCE (5) was put aside after a sound run for second at her last start at the beginning of February. She is bred to improve with more time, and she can give this a shake fresh. LAUNCH CODE (2) rushed home too late when finishing second by a short-head here 4 weeks ago. A wide gate may not be a bad thing on a heavy track, and he can go one better. MANU VUKA (8) blew out badly fresh up, and she will be a quick improver. Include in all top 4 combos. SUGGESTED PLAY: Manu Vuka each way. |

KB CONTRACTORS 1200m
Tricky one to map with a number of first starters but over this trip there is good speed anticipated. BYTHESEA (3) has a couple of nominations, and she is a big chance in either of them. She has the pole position here and will be hoping to settle a couple of pairs closer this time. Hard to beat if she lines up in this race. WOODLANDS (1) made progress last prep earlier in the year, and he has no trouble with wet ground. He is nicely placed after a 3kg claim, and he will be a lot stronger now. Each way with an eye on the market moves. COMIC DIVA (6) makes her debut from an in-form stable, and even though she is bred to want more ground, she can sprint well in a field like this. Follow any positive market leads. STUCK ON YOU (10) makes his debut from the strong Kelvin Tyler stable, and he is bred to revel in wet ground. He is nicely weighted after a 2kg claim, and he should be ready to rumble. FORSETI (4) was scratched midweek to be saved for this, and she has plenty of speed if her connections want her ridden that way. Include. MY GIRL ALICE (5) has found some solid form. Each way. SUGGESTED PLAY: Woodlands each-way and keep an eye on the first starters. |

ENTAIN/NZB INSURANCE PEARL SERIES 1200m
Maria Pilar and Dracarys to take up the running at a strong tempo. VITEBSK (10) did not see out the 1600m here 4 weeks ago when dropping out meekly in the run to the line. She will be ridden back, and with cover from a wide draw over 1200m, and if the gaps come her way, then she can have the last say at some good each-way value in this. MONTE CIVETTA (1) is a staying mare resuming from a long spell over a trip well short of her best. She has won twice in heavy ground, and any market support will be worth following. LITTERAL (6) needed her fresh up run here 4 weeks ago when making her South Island debut 4 weeks ago. She won her only race in the North Island on a heavy track, and she can improve quickly enough to take this out. Stick with her. NOBELLEM (2) has raced her way into some good form on a heavy track here, and she is overdue for another win. Include in all combos. SUGGESTED PLAY: Litteral each way. |

PROPERTY BROKERS - RAY KEAN 2200m
Wild Jakkal and Secret Wish look to bowl along in front. PRETTY FLY (7) was brave in defeat behind a smart type at Riccarton 8 days ago, and she maps to settle a couple of pairs closer for this assignment. She handles a heavy track and is nicely poised to take this out. QUINTO (2) finished sixth in the same race as the top pick 8 days ago, and his effort for second over this trip before that was very good. Stick with him on an each-way basis. SUNNINGDALE (5) was too strong second up at Timaru 3 weeks ago when breaking her maiden status over this trip. She is a lot stronger this year, and she has the scope to go on with the job now. O'CEIRINS BELLE (6) found some trouble last time out and should have finished a lot closer than she did. She cops a wide gate, but she is well worth another chance. COURTE XENA (15) battled on gamely out wide here 4 weeks ago, and she could provide some nice value to bolster any top 4 combos. Don't risk her. SUGGESTED PLAY: O'Ceirins Belle and Courte Xena as each-way value. |

OTAGO ENGINEERING 1400m
Genuine pace with Orsome Dude finding the front from his low draw. MOOR (9) only battled late here 4 weeks ago over 1600m in a deeper field than this, and though beaten, she was not far from the placings. Dropping back to 1400m is the key, and with a nice run early from a handy gate, she can figure in the finish. DAVID MOSS (2) fought on well to finish fourth at Riccarton 12 days ago over 1600m, and the drop back to 1400m does surprise us a touch. He needs a genuine heavy track, and with conditions to suit, he can take this out. DIVINE SPIRIT (3) did not run on as expected at Oamaru a fortnight ago after coming home with a rush here before than to finish close up in second. He can make amends. ASPEN VOLTAGE (6) failed to fire in her post maiden run at Oamaru last time out, but she may be looking for wetter ground, and she is worth another chance with a return to this course. SACRED MIST (5) was just over a length from the winner here 4 weeks ago after producing a tough win at Riverton before that. Stick with her on an each-way basis. SUGGESTED PLAY: David Moss each way. |

OTAGO RACING CLUB LIFE MEMBERS PLATE 1400m
Genuine tempo from Maximus Augustus leading Deciphering Me. PROUDTOBEHERE (6) won her penultimate start here over this trip, and then rocketed home for fourth in a deeper field on this track 4 weeks ago from near last on the home turn. She can settle a tad closer from a superior draw this time, and if the gaps open up at the right time, she can have the last say. EXPLODE (5) was not too far away when out of the money at Riccarton 8 days ago, racing too keenly in the running. The quick 8-day backup will suit him, and he can bounce back into the top 4 placings. READY RESPONSE (3) resumes from a spell for a new trainer, and he was last seen racing at Trentham last spring when finishing well back as the favourite. He maps to receive the run of the race from the pole position, and he will be ready to rumble, especially if the money comes for him. MAGNASTAR (2) finished a length from the winner when finishing a game fourth at Oamaru 2 weeks ago. Stick with him. SHAMEL EXPRESS (4) ran a much better race second up at Oamaru, and he won't be far away. SUGGESTED PLAY: Ready Response each way. |

OTAGO PAINTING SOLUTIONS 1600m
Reasonable tempo with Where's Wally probably leading but a few others should keep him honest. STROBE LIGHT (7) has come into his own since racing on genuine heavy tracks, winning his last 2 starts on the bounce. This slow-maturing 5YO gelding will relish the 5kg drop in weight, and he is good enough to make it a hat-trick of wins here. TARAMEA LAD (8) dropped in grade, and made the most of a cool ride to score very easily here 4 weeks ago over 2200m 4 weeks ago. The drop back to 1600m won't be an issue if the track is as heavy as they expect, so stick with him now that he has his confidence back. CALL ME AL (9) will be peaking third up, and he has won all of his 3 races at this trip. He is very capable when fit, and he can provide some each-way value in this. GENERATION JOY (4) made up ground here 4 weeks ago, and she can settle in a more handy position this time from a superior gate. Stick with her for all top 4 combos. THE HANGOVER (1) was doing his best work late here 4 weeks ago over 1400m, and he will appreciate the extra 200m on offer in this. Include to be safe. SUGGESTED PLAY: Call Me Al each way. |
