NUM TIME COMMENT
1 12:15 POWER FARMING 1400m
The presence of the newcomers could see Fantabulous and Brian struggle to get their own way in front. FANTABULOUS (1) has shown promise in both career starts and was a bold third at Otaki over 1400m last time out. She maps to get a soft run just behind the speed from the inside draw, she looks capable of taking another step forward. IRISH FLUTE (9) resumes after a 4-month spell and she has been given a quiet trial tune-up at Te Awamutu to get ready. She will want more ground shortly, but if the tempo is true, then she can have the last say. ANNIE BLING (8) showed good speed at Ellerslie last start before tiring late into fourth. She will be spot on with her fitness now, and her first win is not far away. SUNDOWN SAV (7) fought well for third on debut, and she will continue to improve with more racing. ZETEL (4) makes his debut off the back of a recent Foxton trial win. He is bred to revel in the wet, and he will be ready to run a big race.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Fantabulous can take this out.
2 12:51 KARAMU STUD 2200m
A pedestrian gallop without a recognised on-pacer engaged. TURFQUAKE (1) looks close to a deserved win after a tough performance last start at Tauherenikau where he stuck on gamely to finish a close second over 2050m. He is set to go one better here. BILLY (2) has been racing consistently this prep, where he resumed with a placing at Whanganui before another honest effort for fourth in the same race as the top pick. He is peaking at the right time, and he can take this out. ROMANTIC PATCH (5) had little luck at Pukekohe after giving away a significant start turning for home before working home steadily into fifth. The extra 600m is ideal, and his first win is not far away. UNUSUAL SECRET (7) makes his debut after winning his most recent trial by well over 3 lengths on this course. He is bred to relish a middle distance, and it would be no surprise to see this gelding win at the first time of asking. UNUSUAL NUGGET (8) is a stablemate of the fourth pick who blew out late fresh up at Tauherenikau 18 days ago. Stick with him. Each way.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Unusual Secret could be the one to beat if the money comes for him.
3 01:28 VINTECH PACIFIC POVERTY BAY TURF CLUB 1200m
Cracking tempo looks assured with many of these capable of pushing on early. ASHOKA (2) was narrowly denied last start over 1200m at Ellerslie after hitting the line strongly, suggesting a win isn’t far away. He is fully fit now and in an easier assignment, he can go one better. OBERON (3) returns from a four-and-a-half month break and closed off his last campaign in decent style when finishing fourth at Ellerslie over 1500m in a far tougher field than this. He is lightly raced, and he will be a lot stronger now. Hard to beat. LA DULCIN'EE (5) did not fire last time at Waipukurau after being in a good position turning for home, but her prior form suggests she may be better suited to 1200m, and she is worth another chance. Each way. ALBAROSSA (1) showed good tactical speed last start at Tauherenikau and was too strong late over 1000m. He is very versatile, and he will still be on the up with his fitness, so he can repeat the dose, especially in the same class.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Ashoka can win.
4 02:04 STOCKIES AND CARRIERS 1200m
Not a great deal of speed on paper so it may be left to one of the debutants to take it up. CENTURIAL (1) has been thereabouts in all of her 4 starts to date, and she continues to race honestly, finishing runner-up 2 back at Pukekohe before finishing fifth over 1400m at Ellerslie last time out. This looks a suitable assignment, and from the inside draw he can get the job done. COWBOY (3) has been building nicely, and he finished a close-up third last start when beaten under a length at Pukekohe. He meets a similar or slightly easier race here, and he should be right in the mix. ZENZERO GIRL (9) got back too far at Ellerslie last time out, and she has a superior gate this time. Stick with her. Each way. VALENTINO (7) makes his debut from a handy gate, and he has had enough trials to be ready to run a big race. Follow the market moves. CADAQUES (5) makes his debut, and he will have the services of Michael McNab, who is a strong lead. Each way claims, especially if the money comes for him.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Zenzero Girl is a chance at each-way value.
5 02:40 AHD LTD 25 YEARS 2100m
Tukituki should lead and dictate terms. BERNARDO (4) produced a solid effort last start at Whanganui when working into the race on the turn before finishing third over 2060m. He will be peaking third up, and his next win is not far away. SUBTLE IMAGE (2) is a lot more genuine since joining the Didham stable, winning two back at Waipukurau before another honest effort when a fast-finishing runner-up over 2200m at Waverley 12 days ago. He will be right in the finish again. KWANZA (1) resumed in good order when finishing third over 1600m at Waipukurau, and he will relish the extra 500m second up on his home track. Each way, especially on a heavy track. CARTER JOHN (5) steps up to a middle distance, and on a heavy track, he can figure in the top 4. ZACKERY (11) was better last start, and he can run into the top 4 again.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Subtle Image each way.
6 03:15 VET SERVICES 1600m
Tempo strong with Offertory booting up from an inside gate while Port Chalmer and Fahali spear across. BORROWED TIME (2) continues to edge closer to his first win after back-to-back placings, the latest when runner-up over 1400m at Tauherenikau, beaten by a length 18 days ago. He steps up to 1600m again, and is an obvious top 3 hope again. PORT CHALMER (1) has been a model of consistency with three straight minor placings, including another brave second last start at Waipukurau over 1600m. He maps to enjoy a perfect run on the fence and he is overdue to crack his maiden status. OFFERTORY (3) resumed with a solid effort at Waverley when showing early speed and fighting on well for second over 1400m 12 days ago. The extra 200m will suit him, and he should go close to taking this out. FAHALI (8) is a steadily improving 5YO gelding, who is not the worst at odds in this. Include. TICK TOCK TESSA (10) has a good draw, and she has to be respected after her last start second at Woodville.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Borrowed Time can win this.
