NUM TIME COMMENT
1 12:50 Blacklocks GWM Maiden Plate 1454m
Powerful Majik has good gate speed and can overcome the wide alley to lead. BEST TIME (1) just missed here on debut over 1400m on a heavy track and will have come on. The extra trip shouldn't bother him and he can go on with the job. TSARINA DIAMONDS (12) was sharply better missing a lip at Moe on a slow surface over 1600m. That stacks right up and she keeps the 2kg claim. Fitter and can race forward. Feared. TOSEN IMPACT (7) was a touch plainer at Wangaratta as favourite but the lip defeat at Donald prior would have him in the finish. CHAANDEE (10) is an improver who can get closer. FOGGY BOTTOM (3) resumes and has had a stack of jumpouts. He's shown enough to keep onside.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Sticking with Best Time.
2 01:25 Denise Casey Maiden Plate 1204m
Solid tempo likely from Ollandia Beach and Lady Maestro. LADY MAESTRO (9) peaks and is ready to win. The narrow defeat at Echuca two back over this distance stands out, and on a quick backup up she maps for a soft on-pace run. INKAANTOON (7) found one much too good here first up on the heavy but covered the others. She's switched from a top barn and has plenty up her sleeve. Her best is good enough and a much better effort is likely. JIRACHI (3) improved at Mornington and has upside. He's switched stables and has been freshened. In the mix. OLLANDIA BEACH (4) also has his third start and showed enough last time to suggest he can get some of the money. AVENEL SPROUT (1) is a likely improver in the Brisbourne yard.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Lady Maestro.
3 02:00 bet365 Jack Maher Classic 1204m
Good speed anticipated with a large representation of first starters lining up. UNA GENTLE (7) is free running and brings narrow defeats from Mornington and Sale on heavy tracks. Fitter again and has a 2kg claim and the blinkers are applied for the first time. Rates to be winning. DEEKAYGEEBEE (1) resumes and raced well in Open 2s in his initial preparation. Has a 2kg claimer booked and has won a Wangaratta jumpout. With natural improvement, she can make the finish. TEMPT THE GODS (2) missed a whisker first up and was backed off the map when comfortably winning a Bordertown Maiden on a heavy track following. Uses the low barrier and he can't be underestimated. TESSARION (6) ran a good number winning a Wagga Maiden and is a hope building on that. BIG STAR (9) will improve second up and this is easier than Bendigo.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Una Gentle.
4 02:35 Vin Tobin 0-58 Handicap 2004m
Think More is likely to roll to the lead and set a decent tempo. THINK MORE (5) loves heavy tracks and bounced straight back here, leading and winning this grade/trip by 3L as favourite. Keeps a handy gate and the 2kg claim and can go right on with the job. OBSTRUCTIONIST (13) has been around the mark without winning. He was well supported at Ballarat last time over longer and is better suited. He can position forward and the blinkers come off. WHERE YA BEAN (3) was tracking well before folding up badly from the speed on the synthetic in stronger. He's capable and should give a sight. GREY LAD (2) found a place here in the Think More race but has a wide gate to contend with today. TOSEN GLORY (7) was much better when finishing a whisker ahead of the above in that contest. Fit and is also in the mix.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Sticking with Think More.
5 03:10 McGrath Family 0-58 Handicap 1454m
Genuine tempo from Teddy Boy booting up from an inside draw to join Departing Bullet and Surreal Winston up front. TRACK PATCHER (3) is the one to beat if he takes his place here. Has plenty up his sleeve and is ready for the step up to the middle distance. He's won a jumpout since last seen and the blinkers are on for the first time. TEDDY BOY (2) brings a win and a near miss from Moe on soft tracks and he jumps from the rail and may control the race. Has to run out the middle distance but will get every chance to do so. CELNADO (1) has been around the mark and didn't have much luck here last time on the heavy. Fit and expect him to run it out. Stablemate SHEER LUNACY (5) is also well seasoned and gets in well with a 3kg claim. Marginal claims along with REWARD WITH A ROSE (8) who jumps plenty in trip.  SUGGESTED PLAY: With Track Patcher.
6 03:45 Fudz Mercury 0-58 Handicap 1454m
Expecting Vonk to take up the lead at a genuine tempo. MISHIMA (2) raced favourite and was tough winning his Maiden here as expected on a heavy track. Draws wide today but has a handy 3kg claim and with average luck can take the next step. ALTROVE (9) also draws out but won a 58 on the same day from the speed. Needs luck pushing forward but should be right in it if that works out. FINAL CRACK (1) had no luck from a wide gate over 1000m on he same day. His big heavy track Maiden win at Albury prior stacks up and with a handy 2kg claim can't be ruled out. STANDUPANDFIGHT (4) brings a Maiden win from Moe and maps well. Deserves consideration. NEVER SORRY (10) was much better her last time and will be around the mark.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to Mishima.
7 04:20 Border Medical Laser And Aesthetics 0 - 58 Handicap 1104m
Genuine tempo with O'reg to lead but under plenty of pressure in a keen early contest. BEFORE THE WAR (1) missed a nose at Echuca and then ran a tough race there following taking out his Maiden. Finally draws a half-decent gate and he rates to take the next step. MOMENTICE (9) led and won her Maiden here by 5L on the heavy turning the form around. Has a wide gate today but the 2kg claim is handy and with average luck can threaten. BRENLYN'S TROOPER (7) was tracking well before a plainer effort last time. Is likely to push forward and can get into the finish. SUPER SUNNY SEEYA (5) resumed here on the heavy but needed it. He's placed 2/3 second up and maps well with a 2kg claimer up. Keep safe with the blinkers on again. CONNEMARA QUEEN (8) resumes and is proven fresh. Her best would have her go close but it's been a long time between drinks.  SUGGESTED PLAY: With Before The War.
