NUM TIME COMMENT
1 11:45 NEW TURF CARRIERS STOP OVER QUARANTINE MAIDEN PLATE 1400m
THE CENTURION (1) in his second career run made the expected natural improvement when fourth of 10 over 1200m at Scottsville last time. He would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter. He should enjoy the extra 200m on offer and if taking to the surface from pole position, he should find himself in the winner's enclosure. MASTER SILVANO (3) has produced two good runs to date. He was rushed up to set the pace over 1200m last time before lacking extra late. He has scope and he is one of the leading chances. PEMBURY (5) showed good improvement when sixth of eight over this course and distance last time. He lost a length leaving the start that day and stayed on well at the finish. He is a progressive type and may have more to come. WONDERFUL TONIGHT (2) is a two-year-old gelding on debut from the stable of Glen Kotzen. By Ideal World from Lady Starlett. Should attract support and has top-three claims.
2 12:20 SF LOGISTICS LINE HAUL PROGRESS PLATE 1200m
WINDS OF CHANGE (5) is much better than his last start run would suggest. His penultimate run when third catches the eye. He is the best-weighted runner in this contest and if taking to the surface, he should take a power of beating. FUTURE VARIETY (4) ran a moderate race last time. He has won twice and finished second twice from seven starts over this distance. Has winning claims. BOURBON WARRIOR (7) is better than his last two starts would suggest. If taking to the polytrack, he can finish in the placings. HENRY HARVEY (2) returns from a spell. He won on debut over this distance and followed that effort up with a creditable fifth-place finish. He may need this outing but is a horse with ability and can't be dismissed.
3 12:55 SF PINE SHAVINGS MAIDEN PLATE 1000m
BERRINGTON BLEW (8) showed good speed over 1200m at Scottsville last time but found one too good on the day. She returns from a spell during which time she would have strengthened up. She is a speedy filly who will carry 50.5kgs thanks to the 4kg claiming apprentice Blaine Marx-Jacobson. If not in need of the run, she may be hard to peg back. HOLY STAR (6) was a beaten odds-on favourite in his last start over this distance at Scottsville. He is a progressive type and should go close with Gavin Lerena in the saddle. SIMBINE (5) was outrun late when fourth over this distance at Turffontein last time. He has scope and should have a say in the outcome of this contest. PRIORY TERRACE (7) has finished second in both her efforts to date. She showed good speed over 1200m last time but found one too good on the day. The drop to 1000m may be ideal for her and she can feature.
4 01:30 SF LOGISTICS DIRECT OPEN MAIDEN 1400m
JUMPTHEGREENLIGHT (6) returns from a spell during which time she would have strengthened up. She stayed on at the finish when sixth over this distance at Scottsville last time. She has scope and in this type of field would not be a shock winner. VALLI GIRL (3) found one too good in the day last time when resuming from a spell. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Muzi Yeni is booked to ride and he may be able to get the best out of her when it matters most. INTRO (8) ran a fair race in her first outing for Kumaran Naidoo. She is back against her own sex and with S'manga Khumalo in the saddle, she should be fighting out the finish. LINE IN THE SKY (10) is better than her last start run over 1600m on this course would suggest as she raced wide around the turn. Her previous three outings were decent. It is encouraging that Gavin Lerena rides and with luck in the running, she would not be a shock winner.
5 02:05 SHEPHERDS VOICE PRE TRAINING AND SPELLING OPEN MAIDEN 2000m
WINDOW TO MY SOUL (1) is better than his last start as he was reported to be not striding out. His penultimate run when second over this course and distance catches the eye. The blinkers fitted which should keep his mind on the task at hand. From pole position, he can shed his maiden tag. FINE WINE (12) stayed on well when second of nine over 1600m on this course last time. She should like the rise to 2000m. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, she should throw out a big challenge to the top selection. TAKEYOURBESTSHOT (8) raced from a handy position over 1600m last time and stayed on well to finish second of eight. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He should run another honest race. SPECTACULAR (11) is better than his last start over 1800m on this course. He is back in maiden grade and on previous form, he should be figuring in the finish.
6 02:40 GLOBAL BLOODSTOCK LOGISTICS CLASS 4 1600m
LEGENDARY (5) was not disgraced when finishing sixth last time and was then put out for a spell. He tries the polytrack and if taking to the surface, he should go close. GLOBAL MOVEMENT (1) stayed on well when third of 15 over this distance at Scottsville last time. Tristan Godden retains the ride and from pole position, he should prove hard to beat. WHITE SEAHORSE (2) is better than his last start run suggests as the saddle was reported to have slipped in the running. He finished third in his only attempt over this course and distance. Gavin Lerena rides and the combination merit healthy respect. STAR OF THE FUTURE (10) tried hard when finishing second of nine over 1400m on this course last time but found one too good on the day. He is in a good space and with a bit of luck in the running can go one better.
7 03:15 BLUE GRASS FODDER AND FEED D STAKES 1600m
JOSHUA HOTSNAKE (6) resumed from a spell and set the pace over this course and distance last time, tried hard but found one too good on the day. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He may be hard to peg back. EL REY VIENE (10) is better than his last start run over this distance at Scottsville would suggest. He has finished third in both his efforts on this course. Sean Veale is likely to use his early gate speed to overcome the wide draw and he rates well as a leading chance. CONNOISSEUR (8) stayed on well when fourth over 1400m on this course last time. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. With a bit of luck in the running, he can place. ZIYAN'S PRIDE (1) won his maiden race over 1400m at this track last time. Has the inside gate and a bold showing is expected.
8 03:50 NEW TURF CARRIERS CLASS 3 1400m
MEXICAN PETE (3) stayed on well at the finish after losing a length at the start last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. It is encouraging that Muzi Yeni retains the ride and if jumping on terms, he can win a race of this nature. PLAZA ACCORD (2) tried hard when finishing second of 10 over this distance at Scottsville last time. He meets a similar line-up and merits healthy respect. ROSH KEDESH (11) was an easy winner of his last start over this distance at Scottsville. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He takes on stronger rivals but is in a good space and can't be ignored. STRATHCLYDE (9) resumed from a spell last start and stayed on well after setting the pace over this distance at Scottsville last time. He won his only attempt over this course and distance. He will strip much fitter and can place.
9 04:25 THE EQUINE GROUP D STAKES 1200m
GAELIC DANCER (3) showed good speed over 1000m on the Turffontein Inside course last time, before getting outrun late. She takes a drop in class and with Gavin Lerena booked to ride from a good draw of three, she should be the one to beat. BANK STREET (9) ran a good race when third of nine in his stable debut over 1400m on this course. He has won once and finished second once from three starts over this distance. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners. VICTOR RAIL (5) has fair recent form lines to his credit. Both his career victories have come on this course. Has each-way claims. ONE IRISH ROVER (1) is better than his last start run would suggests as he was reported to be not striding out. He won his only attempt over this course and distance. On his previous two efforts, he should be finishing in the money.
10 05:00 THANKS TO THE NEW TURF STAFF CLASS 4 1200m
HAPPY FORTUNE (3) showed good signs of a form return over 1400m on this course last time when finishing second of 12 on her second run this prep. She raced from a handy position and had to be steadied at the 1000m mark. She has won third-up previously and with a bit of luck in the running can return to winning form. PAPILLON BLU (10) followed up her maiden win with an equally impressive victory over this course and distance. Gavin Lerena rides and with a bit of luck in the running can bring up the hat-trick. CRAFTY CROFTY (9) was an easy winner of her last start over 1000m on the turf. She returns from a spell after having won her only run last pep. She takes on stronger rivals but has scope and should give a good account of herself. BEAUTIFUL RANIA (5) kept finding to win her last start over 1400m at Scottsville. She is at her best over a longer trip but is in a good space and is worth considering.
