MAI STRATA QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1200m
Tricky one to map with a number of debutants but over this trip there is good speed anticipated. BENEFITSOFMINE (2) won a trial by a space and then was backed off the map when narrowly beaten at Sunshine Coast on debut. He will be naturally improved and draws to advantage. Tough to beat on what we've seen. SAXOBUSHI (4) resumes gelded and the in-form Wiggins rides. His trials have been solid and expect him to return much improved. TOI TOI (13) surprised narrowly beaten at the Sunshine Coast on debut and then just battled in an Open 2 at Coffs Harbour. Fitter and has the tongue tie on for the first time. Has the rail and she can get back on track. LE NOTRE (9) debuts and has looked sharp at the trials. Has to manage a wide barrier but Williams is a positive jockey engagement. SUGGESTED PLAY: Benefitsofmine if the betting suggests stable confidence. |

ARCHERS THE STRATA PROFESSIONALS QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1200m
Anticipating good pressure with many of these lining up for the first time. STATEMENT OF TRUTH (4) resumed gelded and comes off a heavily bet placing here on debut. Won the first of two trial and is sure to have come on. Maps for the run of the race. VOODOO LASS (13) resumed here in an Open 2 and found one much too good. She has more up the sleeve and is likely to settle forward and go close. WANNABE BRUTAL (6) has been around the mark both starts this preparation and is ready to show his best. Huxtable rides and will give him every chance from an inside barrier. ODE TO BEAUTY (11) debuts with the blinkers on and her latest trial was sharp. No surprise to see her race well. INSIDE PASSAGE (3) resumes gelded for the Kendrick yard with Wiggins aboard and is worth keeping onside. SUGGESTED PLAY: With Statement Of Truth. |

HOSPITALITY & STRATA Maiden Plate 1800m
Pace only fair with Gas Brigade rolling to the lead ahead of Not My Problem and Casterly Rock. CASTERLY ROCK (1) impressed from the back beaten 1.5L this trip and Doomben and then raced favourite at the Sunshine Coast and was plainer boxing on to place. Has the blinkers on again and the extra metres should hold no fears. NOT MY PROBLEM (12) peaks and her narrow defeat at Port Macquarie two back stacks right up. Likely had excuses at Coffs Harbour last time and you'd expect her to run the 1800m right out. GAS BRIGADE (6) is in a leading metro barn and he's raced in stronger at Doomben his last two. Led and went close at the Sunshine Coast prior over a mile and that would see him in the finish. WEONA REDWOOD (10) comes out of the same Doomben contest and will be better for it. He's also in good hands and will get every chance from an inside barrier. SUGGESTED PLAY: Going with Casterly Rock. |

GRACE LAWYERS BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1000m
Expecting a strong pace from the outset with plenty of speed engaged. HIDDEN MELODY (3) runs along and won comfortably at Grafton before the nose defeat here in a CL2 at a $2.7 favourite. Carries more weight in this grade but is good enough to bounce back on the 7-day return. EAGLE'S FIRE (7) resumes owning a string of quinella placings. He will jump and run from the inside barrier and should be further improved. Rates to give a big sight. I AM VOODOO (1) led them up and won a 70 here and then found Open grade too tough. Has to carry 65kg after the claim but at this level he can't be ruled out. BEACHSIDE BABE (8) races forward and hasn't been too far way in better company. Maps well and should be around the mark. SUGGESTED PLAY: With Hidden Melody. |

ARCHERS THE STRATA PROFESSIONALS BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1200m
A solid tempo on the cards with Jonny Da Wolf heading them off. JONNY DA WOLF (1) resumes for a metro stable and is right up to this if presented forward. The easy trial win at Doomben suggests he will be and Huxtable sticks aboard from that. ARALETTA (7) resumed in a 70 at Doomben well supported and looked a run short. She will push forward and flies second-up. She also has claims. WAHINE GALAXY (8) is capable but has been off the scene for a year. She's trialled well but it's an ask. Include in wider plays. VOCALS (9) knuckled down strongly when finished 0.7 lengths from the winner here. One for consideration. SELOUS (5) could run a bold race fresh from a spell. SUGGESTED PLAY: Jonny Da Wolf appeals. |

HUM ENERGY Class 4 Handicap 1800m
Genuine tempo from Yalla leading Kovanos. WANDA'S OUTLAW (4) is fit and has been knocking on the door this distance range. Rolls up on a 7-day return and tumbles in weight this grade. That brings her right into it. YALLA (6) brings decent country form and she runs along. Has stacks of weight relief and will get every chance to run out the longer distance. BACKLIT BEAUTY (5) spiked her figures winning a 65 here comfortably over 2000m. Has had three weeks away and will be in the finish holding the form. KOVANOS (8) is in a top metro stable and can show more third up. Her best would have her in the finish. MENAZZI (1) has been racing in town in stronger. He can go better here. SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to Wanda's Outlaw. |

STRATA COMPLIANCE SOLUTIONS QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1723m
Plenty of pace from Call Out, Family Of League and Hurricane Rosie ahead of Barbie Star. SAN JOSE BOY (2) has to manage a wide gate but has been threatening this distance range. Has a handy 1.5kg claim in stronger and has been kept on the fresh side. Rates to go close if things work out. GISELLE ABEEL (6) won a Maiden at Ipswich on debut when expected to need the outing. It was a tough effort and drawn well she will get every chance to go on. HEAVENLY IMPACT (1) was outgraded in Group and Listed company before a solid effort at Eagle Farm in stronger than this. Carries top weight but keeps Huxtable and has to be considered. Stablemate CALL OUT (4) finds harder but is going well and won't be far away tackling the longer distance. SUGGESTED PLAY: Box Quinella 2,6,1,4. |

GC RACING INDUSTRY AWARDS AUGUST 21 BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 2227m
Moderate tempo with Shape Of Water leading the way and a few others keeping in touch. Tough. WHATJEUDOIN' (6) was quickly back on track when narrowly beaten at Rockhampton. Comes back in grade and should run the 2227m right out in this company. WATERMELON (3) wasn't far away in a 64 here last time and that puts him in the picture. He maps for the run of the race and is on a quick back-up. The longer journey shouldn't prove an issue. SHAPE OF WATER (9) deserved the comfortable 55 win at Kilcoy over 1900m and can use the inside gate. Gets in well with the 3kg claim and should be in it a long way. PURE THOUGHTS (8) rates okay on the easy Maiden win two back at the Sunshine Coast and has been freshened following a plainer effort last time. Has a wide gate to deal with but won't be far away. OUR ORATOR (2) also draws awkwardly but the 3kg claim is handy and his best would see him competitive. SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to Whatjeudoin'. |
