TOOWOOMBA   12 July 2025
NUM TIME COMMENT
1 05:38 NEIL MANSELL CONCRETE BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1300m
They look to roll along early with Little Spark and Thiem leading the charge. LITTLE SPARK (10) likes to put herself on the speed and usually run honestly from there. She will just need a little luck in the early stages but does run her best at Toowoomba. LONDON POINT (6) is coming back in grade so does go up in the weights. She did run well enough in that BM70 at Gatton. Also needs fortune early. NAUGHTY WORDS (1) runs first up here at home. Most of her efforts at Toowoomba are sound. LA MANO (3) is another who usually shows pace in her races. She could prefer a softer track though. HARD TO DISMISS (7) will probably get back but be hitting the line nicely. Is well drawn.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Little Spark.
2 06:13 SUBZERO AIRCONDITIONING Class 1 Handicap 1200m
The pace looks even at best given a lack of early speed. SCRUFFY (13) comes off a very nice maiden win at Rockhampton. She was midfield and worked home strongly. Different setup here but can build on that effort. CHANGE THE DEEL (5) was near the tail at Dalby but was actually not beaten too far. May need more ground but has some ability. LOVE 'N' ROCKETS (1) resumes after racing in better grade. The barrier is a concern but does get back anyway. MISS MOZAMBIQUE (6) wears the winkers here. She has run pretty well here so far and can feature. DANNY'S BOY (3) was beaten 4 lengths into fifth when resuming last start over 1200m at this track. Fitter and can only be improved.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Scruffy has some confidence now.
3 06:46 PRYDE'S EASIFEED BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1200m
Son Of Beebee to take up the running with Data Leak and Drang A Tang close at hand. DRANG A TANG (4) is right on the improve. He easily goes his best at this course and showed it last outing with a fairly dominant victory. Looks the one to beat with the claim as well. COUNT THE COIN (2) was very decent when going first up at Warwick. He also improves nicely second up so expecting an even better run. DATA LEAK (8) usually runs a good race. He should get a lovely run in transit and give a good sight. ELECTED (5) simply gave away far too much ground a fortnight back. Would love a softer track. GROOVIN' THE MOO (1) should be ready to fire now with the added fitness. Can be placed.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Drang A Tang looks the one.
4 07:20 EMPIRE OF JAPAN BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1625m
Genuine tempo with Nerano leading the way. NERANO (1) consistently runs good races. He has been racing at midweek level in town and finishing just behind the placings. If he handles the weight after the claim then he has to be right in the reckoning. UNDER THE PALAIS (10) is back up from NSW where she twice ran well. They were on heavy going so must monitor the conditions. MAPLE DOOR (9) chases three on trot over this very course and distance. A nice drop in weight for good measure. BETTER TOMORROW (4) has had a stellar preparation. Hard to knock a horse in this form. DRUNKEN SAILOR (8) heads north and if settled in will have to have admirers.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Nerano is in the right race.
5 07:54 PROVINCIAL DISTRIBUTORS BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1890m
Moderate tempo with Vortexia leading the way and a few others keeping in touch. SONNY FELLA (6) has been away from the winner's stall for some time but those races have come down south. They are easily stronger than this. Also prefers to race on good tracks too. MALECON (2) does race best on his home course. The claim is important and he'll have no dramas with the journey too. KNEZE (1) was a winner over this track and trip two back. He just found the stronger grade that bit too much to handle. JENNI INDA JUNGLE (7) is generally around the mark in her races. Is certainly bred to want this ground. TRAUTMAN (3) should be fit enough now. He has won at this specific course before.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Sonny Fella a play in this.
6 08:27 TOP OF THE RANGE BUILDERS Maiden Handicap 870m
Genuine tempo from Diamantina Rose leading Kingsland. KINGSLAND (2) has to be a big hope even if not over a distance befitting his breeding. He comes from racing in NSW and it was a very decent debut performance. Assuming he is not run off his feet, he has some gear added which might aid in that. SKY BLUE (6) improved nicely from first to second outing. She does back up quickly but must be going well. REVANTAS (3) went forward last time and while missing the placings, finished closer. Much nicer gate here too. IT'S A LONG ROAD (1) kicks off from a soft barrier so watch the market. DIAMANTINA ROSE (4) placed at Gatton on debut and rates an each way chance with the benefit of that race experience.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Kingsland the bet.
7 08:57 WAGNER CIVIL Maiden Handicap 1625m
Little early speed on offer so Life Of Tree should be prominent. HIDEYO (5) is with a new yard after being consistent in NSW events. It won't take much to be winning this and should be getting a sweet run for much of the journey. NEO VICI (8) finally worked into the placings when leading at Murwillumbah. It was a small field but is down on the limit in this. SOMETHIN IN ORANGE (2) ran a fair race at his first outing. He has to be better for that. Betting will probably explain most. BUSH WOOKIE (1) is a bit the same. Probably gets back anyway so the gate is not so bad. SOMAX (10) has had a few goes already to break the maiden. They have tinkered with his gear today.  SUGGESTED PLAY: In a tough race Hideyo gets the nod.
