Plenty of early pace with Iknowastar and Whinchat to vie for the lead, pressured by Cosmic Vega. WHINCHAT (16) progressive gelding who keeps raising the bar this time in. Returns from a five-week let-up after proving too classy for Tavi Time over this trip at Rosehill on March 16. Since fitted with a recent 1207m trial placing and will give them something to catch again. IKNOWASTAR (15) underrated gelding who looks destined for better things. Sat on the pace with the 61kg when resuming for a courageous second over 1400m at Rosehill on March 30. Goes just as well second-up and will be in this for a long way. JIMMYSSTAR (12) ugly watch from the inside gate when disappointing when seventh over 1400m in the G3 Newcastle Stakes on March 8. Kept fresh and looking for a much better showing today. KINLOCH (8) racing well without luck. Charged late from well back when second over 1500m at Newcastle in the Mwbk Cup on April 6. Look for him late if they overdo it up front.
