Lots of early speed predominantly from Belle's Boy and Tee Amici. Tough. Heathcote-trained NEARA REWARD (10) was heavily backed on resumption delivering a 4.5L Maiden win at Ipswich. Has been disappointing at Toowoomba the two since and certainly had excuses the first of them. Races forward and finds the right race to reward supporters. SLY CORNER (2) resumes and goes well fresh. He will race over further but has trialled well over 926m. Has the ability and maps for a soft run. CRAZY EYED FRED (4) was narrowly beaten at Gatton first-up and it was a nice effort after settling rearward from a wide alley. Will have to do it the hard way again but will be fitter and the extra 100m will advantage. CLAUDIUS (13) spiked his figures at Ipswich and tumbles in weight. Started at big odds but a repeat of that effort would see him in the finish. SUGGESTED PLAY: Going with the metro-trained Neara Reward.
