Genuine tempo with Royal Mule to lead but under plenty of pressure in a keen early contest. CORTAIN (3) was too bad to be true first-up at Werribee bounced back with a much better effort at Bendigo when beaten a head. Looks ideally placed out to 1600m third-up and if he builds on the last start effort he should go close. ROYAL MULE (10) was okay first-up at Pakenham and should strip much fitter. She was a winner second up last time in and must respect Waterhouse & Bott coming here. WISE LEGEND (6) has placed at his past two, beaten under a length at Bendigo over this trip last time out. Maps well. STEAL THE SUN (14) rates an each-way chance and should be running on well. MAKALU (1) is in the mix. SUGGESTED PLAY: Cortain on top.
