Great Spirit and Lemon Aika will press forward in a keen battle for the lead. VIKEN (11) is a strong fresh performer back after a break of six-and-a-half months and looking to emulate his win at this track to kick off the last campaign. Comes to hand quickly so a bold showing is expected. GREAT SPIRIT (4) started at $2 last time and ran below expectations, finishing fifth and beaten 5 lengths at Urawa over 1500m after being in the firing line on the turn. Taking on a better line-up this time but he deserves another chance. DERMA KATASUKASHI (9) built on a nice second two starts back at this track with a win over 1200m at this track three-and-a-half weeks ago, getting home by 0.8 lengths. Needs to be at her best to beat this field but she is up to the challenge. CHEERFUL GIRL (3) turned in a nice effort to score two runs ago but was not as effective last time out when fourth over 1200m at this track, beaten 3.5 lengths. Should be thereabouts.
