Without on-pacers engaged it may turn into a sprint home. Open race but the profile of A LONG STORY SHORT (5) appeals. He's a lightly raced 5yo who won his maiden impressively here two back over 1600m before a good effort up to this trip last time. Finds a similar race again and will be very hard to hold out. AHAB (3) is flying of late, a good winner two back before just missing at Warracknabeal. Bit more depth here but sets up well from the inside gate with even luck. STAPHANI (13) presents third up. The fresh run was quite good before struggling last time - suspect she'll be crying out for this trip now and can improve. BATOKA CHIEF (9) is a bit hit or miss but the run two back in town is good enough to figure from VERIFIER (15) who should be running on late. SUGGESTED PLAY: A Long Story Short to win.
