GOING: H(8)

NEW ERA TECHNOLOGY MAIDEN PLATE 1850m

Track: HVY8   Rain (Max: 21)   Rail: True 400m-W/Post; +2m Remainder.

Reasonable tempo with a few going forward, headed by Southerly Buster. EL PASO (4) seven start maiden who finds his race today. Further improved third up on the firmer surface after hitting the line late when fifth over 1890m at this track. Maps well and the blinkers should sharpen him up. Goes close. O CARA MIA (9) resumed for her second prep when an eye catching second over 1500m at Hawkesbury. Looking for this trip now and gets her chance with Wadick's 1.5kg claim. Leading prospect. TOMMY THUG (2) comes here in peak condition and drawn to get the gun run. Gave his all with the 59kg from the outside gate when a tough third over 1890m at this track. No surprise to see him get off the mark. CHIEF OF STAFF (3) well bred gelding who looks better placed out to this trip on the roomier Newcastle track. Strong through the line at his second race start when second over 1600m at Wyong. Blinkers added and sure to be thereabouts again. SUGGESTED PLAY: El Paso to win.
