Anticipating a genuine tempo over the 1200m journey. DIAMOND JIM (1) is an unraced son of Rafeef from the Alan Greeff stable with Richard Fourie in the saddle. If not in need of the run, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances. POP CHART (12) produced a promising debut effort over this course and distance. He returns from a 26-week spell, during which time he was gelded. He has scope and is one of the leading contenders. CASINO KING (8) stayed on well when second over this distance on the polytrack last time. He should enjoy racing on the turf and if jumping on terms, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest. BUGLE (9) showed good improvement in his local debut over this course and distance. He was green in the running but the manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. Chase Maujean retains the ride and the combination must be respected.
