STERN IDOL (1) is back over the bigger fences off a mixed return to hurdling over the Autumn months. He ran very well in the Galleywood and did lose Pateman pre-race there who knows the horse (and course) so well. Interestingly, Stern Idol has never run in this race but 3900m is perfect, he's just got to give them all weight. LEADERBOARD (2) is the clear danger if he brings his best. He fell as a $3.30 chance in the Brierly which then cruelled his chances of running in the Grand Annual a few days later. They've reset the campaign for this, going around at Mornington on Monday when tailing off a long last on a good 3. TREASURED CROWN (5) switches to steeplechasing off some strong hurdle form. He won his steeple trial well enough and the stable must be respected. BLANDFORD LAD (3) and HEIR TO THE THRONE (4) both have minor chances. SUGGESTED PLAY: Stern Idol to win.
