FIRE STARTER (9) has finished third in both his efforts to date. He has scope and from his good draw of two may be hard to peg back. PHIL THE FLUTER (1) ran a good race when second of 10 over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. If jumping on level terms with his rials he should be right there at the finish. CHIEFTAIN'S SHIELD (2) is racing well having placed in all of his last four starts, most recently finishing third of 10 over 1600m at Vaal. Has solid each-way claims.
