Solid tempo with Lilac Girl leading from Zorb and Victorious Spirit. VICTORIOUS SPIRIT (7) won two jumpouts and then raced a short-priced favourite at Echuca on debut, beaten a half-length. Brown is a key jockey switch, and he can use the inside barrier. Strips fitter and is a live chance. CISCO (2) trialled sharply at Randwick and ran a solid race at Sandown-Lakeside on debut. Has a low gate, and quick improvement is likely. LATHLAIN (10) is a 3YO by Shamus Award on debut for the Busuttin and Young stable who has impressed at the jumpouts. She's won her last two outings and looks primed for a big run first-up. Wet track is the obvious query, but the booking of Melham and the fact they haven't scratched suggest they're here to win. OBVIOUS (14) had some support on debut but was only fair at Geelong. Can improve on that effort. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Victorious Spirit in the opener.
