The race lacks early speed so doubt they will go too hard. ZARUBINA (10) has been a model of consistency this prep, hitting the line with purpose without quite landing the prize. Her racing pattern has been hampered by wide gates, forcing her back and leaving her too much to do, but the softer draw today gives her the chance to settle closer. With the 2kg claim in play and race fitness at its peak, she looks poised to finally shed the maiden tag. ZOULAR (4) has been patchy so far but his peak figures measure up strongly for this level. He’ll need to overcome a tricky gate but looms as a major player if he turns up in the right frame. GOLDEN TUNES (5) is an Exceedance gelding on debut that has shown nice ability at the trials and profiles well to give this a shake first-up. HARRY DE LAD (6) closed off fairly on debut in tough conditions and should improve sharply with that experience. SUGGESTED PLAY: Siding with Zarubina to win.
