MALBOROUGH BAY (6) was a tough last start winner on the flat at Te Rapa just over 2 weeks ago, and he has won a jumping trial since then. He is well schooled and only has to get around safely to be the one to beat. EMBER ATTACK (1) has been in the money in his last 2 starts over the hurdles, and he likes to race on the pace. He is improving all the time in this role and will be the main threat to the top pick. MISTER PUCCI (7) jumped cautiously in his first start over hurdles 2 starts back and has had a run on the flat since then. He has potential and will continue to improve with experience. TOMMY PERFECT (9) was well supported when making his hurdle debut but was retired from the event. He made a mistake in a recent hurdle trial, and while he is still a risk in this role, the field is not strong, and he is worth including in all combinations. SKAW VALLEY (8) struggled at Riccarton recently and could be looking for a better surface. He is worth another chance. SUGGESTED PLAY: Malborough Bay should be winning, and Ember Attack to fill the quinella.
