NUM TIME COMMENT
1 12:35 Sportsbet Green Tick Hurdle 3400m
Competitive hurdle. ANDY WIN (2) goes on top for us, winning his maiden hurdle on debut at Warrnambool impressively over Mr Waterville who franked that form winning the Novice hurdle over GOLDEN CRUSADER (1) who struggled on the very heavy track into fourth as favourite. Tipping Andy Win can go on with it, but Golden Crusader is a classy jumper and he won't get a bog here which helps him bounce back. ONGATITI (3) was third behind Mr Waterville last time having won his maiden hurdle prior very easily. He's got strong claims as well. FERAGO (4) won a maiden hurdle at Casterton in solid style when charging home late and could go on with it. THE VOCALIST (5) next best off a good run behind Enchanted Elle last time at Casterton.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Andy Win to win.
2 01:15 Sportsbet Australian Hurdle 3900m
Keen to stick with HIGHLAND BLAZE (1) who looks best suited stepping out to the 3900m here. Last time we saw him here he won the Australian Hurdle dominantly and he's building to something like that, narrowly beaten by THE STORYTELLER (2) at Warrnambool last time out. Highland Blaze started favourite there and meets The Storyteller slightly better at the weights, thinking he turns the tables. Also very wary of MR WATERVILLE (3) who belted the Novice Hurdle field at Warrnambool last time out. He's the one with plenty of upside who will stay 3900m no worries at all. KARBURAN (4) was well behind The Storyteller at Warrnambool two back but was much better at Casterton and could bridge back the margin.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Highland Blaze to win.
3 01:55 Sportsbet Race Previews Handicap 1600m
Hoodys Horse should lead but there are a few other speedy types who can keep him honest. BEAUTIFULLY (4) looks nicely placed. She's a lightly raced filly who won well in a BM62 at Cranbourne two back before a good effort up in grade at Warrnambool on the wet track when beaten two lengths. Comes back a notch here and gets to a mile for the first time which should suit nicely. Looks the one to beat. RAPID CHEVAL (7) is off a short break leading into this but has had two solid trials and the peaks to challenge. Worth some thought. RED ON RED (1) resumes and could surprise at odds. Including in exotics. CAT NOIR (5) has shown glimpses but lacks consistency. Keeping safe from a favourable draw for Williams.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Beautifully to win.
4 02:35 Sportsbet Australian Steeplechase 3900m
The champ STERN IDOL (1) is looking to go back to back and will need to carry a new record high weight to do so, assigned a whopping 76.5kg having simply been too strong again in the Brierly at Warrnambool under 75kg last time. He's virtually untouchable over the bigger fences and it's hard to see how they match him, weight and all. SING FOR PEACE (5) is the danger. He's a good hurdler switching to the bigger fences off a solid steeple trial. Thought he was a touch disappointing last time at Hamilton when third but he still ran a solid race and 11.5kg off Stern Idol is plenty. FABALOT (3) tried hard chasing Golden Garden (who would've given Stern Idol a race) at Casterton last time and he drops sharply in weight. CASTROFRANCARU (4) comes through the same form with some claims while COUNT ZERO (2) needs to find form but will stay.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Stern Idol to win.
5 03:05 Sportsbet Samson Handicap 2100m
Plenty of pressure primarily from Up And Under, Morryl Moral and Royal Emblem. ROYAL EMBLEM (8) is a lightly raced former import who was well backed at Warrnambool for the Maher yard first up, battling away well enough for fifth. Second up in the UK he beat Mukhatalif who also came out here and won well. Respecting. LIKE A TIGER (4) is going well, a good winner two back at Warrnambool before just being nosed out last time. He'll be charging late. STRAAND DEAL (3) is fresh for this off a win at Morphettville and should measure up. MORRYL MORAL (5) has struggled to find his best so far this prep but has peaks that measure up. Keeping safe.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Siding with Royal Emblem.
6 03:35 Sportsbet Sandown Cup 3200m
Sir Chartwell is likely to roll to the lead and set a decent tempo. Good edition of the Sandown Cup with the Andrew Ramsden providing the key lead up. SIR CHARTWELL (5) was huge odds there but ran very well, beaten 1.3 lengths by Zakouma into third. He drops 3.5kg off that and profiles as if the 3200m will suit perfectly. The tricky one to gauge is THE WESTERN FRONT (6) was sixth in the Ramsden in a solid effort and is in the mix ahead of TEMPESTI (3) who ran on well in the Warrnambool Cup. Both deserves major respect after some key scratchings. CROUCH (1) also comes through the Ramsden and looks best of the rest in his second start in Aus. Open to improvement stretching to this trip and keep Coffey.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Sir Chartwell on top.
7 04:05 Sportsbet Fast Form Handicap 1400m
Off the inside draw Prevailed should boot up and lead at a solid tempo. LEGIO TEN (1) is flying and looks well placed again having won his past two, far too good from midfield in a handy BM66 at Pakenham when last seen. Up slightly in grade again now but finds another nice race and can get the job done. Not sure what to do with THEBELMONTGANGSTER (11) who has been awful in both runs this time in. Too dry first up, too wet second up? Maybe he gets it just right today but take on trust. NEARING LIBERTY (4) resumes with some handy figures that say he can measure up fresh. PREVAILED (9) is some query at 1400m but will be up on speed.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Legio Ten to win.
8 04:36 Sportsbet Same Race Multi Handicap 1200m
Pace looks strong with Capricorn Star and Humble Trader pressing forward to challenge National Code along the inside. NATIONAL CODE (13) resumes. She's a progressive, lightly raced mare who won two in a row last time in and has won a trial leading in. Well placed to make a bright return. HUMBLE TRADER (8) tackled a stronger race behind Concord Connie at Flemington latest and this suits much better. Gets the blinkers on to sharpen him up third-up and reunites with hot-hand hoop in Neindorf. Big threat third-up. WOLFY (4) is knocking on the door. Has been left with too much to do in his last two but has been savaging the line. If McNeil can have hi closer from a good draw, he will prove tough to hold out. VIENNA VIXEN (12) drops back to the 1200m off 60 days in-between runs and has peaks that stack right up. Not dismissing.  SUGGESTED PLAY: National Code gets the nod.
