NUM TIME COMMENT
1 11:55 MURRAY FREE CONTRACTING 1400m
Solid tempo anticipated with No Love Lost taking charge. NO LOVE LOST (6) sat outside the leader and forced the pace when finishing a brave third on debut at Otaki just over 2 weeks ago, and with the natural improvement that is expected second up, he is the one to beat here, just don't expect another fancy price. CRAFTSMAN (1) is a slow-maturing type resuming from a spell that is short of his best. He meets a thin field here, and with no tune-up public trial, he will be fresh enough to run a decent race. Include in all top 4 combos. RED LADY (7) is another who has been given plenty of time to mature, and she resumes off the back of a recent trial win at Foxton. Each way claims, but check the market for any moves. POPINJAY (2) showed some ability in his initial prep prior to his spell. He has trialled up, and his stable has found some form recently. Include. RICHARD FARRELL (3) has been placed on the poly track here twice in the past, and from a good gate, he can figure in the top 4.  SUGGESTED PLAY: No Love Lost is clearly on top in this field.
2 12:28 CHRIS GOMMANS & SONS CONTRACTING SPRINT 1000m
Kodiac Bear or Vanbrugh Belle to lead the small field. IT'S AMELIA (3) made progress last year with her racing well-spaced. She ended that prep with a fourth on this track as a short-priced favourite. She will be stronger now, and though she resumes without any public trials, she should still be hard to beat. KODIAC BEAR (2) did not kick on as expected after finishing second on debut last spring. He is resuming with 2 trials under his belt, and in a very modest field, he has each-way claims. LASSIE (4) makes her debut off the back of a couple of recent trials, and the market will be our best guide. VANBRUGH BELLE (8) will be peaking third up, and from a superior gate, she is not the worst in this contest. NIEMI (6) strips fitter second up, and from a good gate, she can improve quickly. Follow the market moves.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Kodiac Bear each way.
3 01:05 ASHHURST DEER N DUCK INN 2140m
A solid tempo on the cards with Carbon Credit leading the way. PUNISHER (4) is knocking on the door, and she will be peaking at the right time, third up from a spell. The step up to a middle distance is the key here, and in a very modest field, she is the one to beat. BRUTAL REALITY (5) had her first run over ground last time out at Cambridge on their poly track and finished in the money for the first time in her career. She can carry that form through to this assignment, and she can figure in the top 3 again. HEARTOFACES (6) has steadily improved in each of her 3 starts, and she battled away well enough when finishing third at Tauherenikau 3 weeks ago. She still needs to strengthen up, but she is still worth including in all combos. CARBON CREDIT (2) did nothing on debut, and is resuming after more than 2 years off the scene. He won the latest of his 2 trials this year, and he should be running on late. Check the market moves. RUNAWAY PRINCESS (7) needed her fresh up, and her stable is in good form. She can spice up any top 4 combos.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Punisher should be winning this.
4 02:15 HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY PROPERTY BROKERS 2140m
Sir Mikki to take charge ahead of Tramore at a strong tempo. SUBTLE IMAGE (4) has been racing well since joining the Didham stable, and he has good form on this circuit as well. He won't lack fitness, and he looks to be well placed to take this out. WENEEDASHOCK (6) is a stablemate of the second pick, and his form has turned a corner since joining the Fannin yard as he gets ready for a jumping career. Each way claims again. ZACKERY (7) was a beaten favourite in a moderate BM60 field at Tauherenikau 4 weeks ago, and he has top 4 claims again. ORANGE RIVER (9) has found it hard to win another race, but he is usually thereabouts, and he will have no trouble with the poly surface. Stick with him.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Subtle Image can win this.
5 02:51 MANAWATU MINI SPREADERS 1700m
Leanach Lad is the probable leader in the small field. LEANACH LAD (1) showed pace to lead at Hawera last time out, and he did well to hold on for fourth after racing greenly throughout the running that day. He can take up the lead again here from the pole position, and this time, he can take them all the way. AFTERTHOUGHT (2) has been showing pace, but weakening quickly in his last couple of starts on the turf. Maybe the poly surface can help bring the best out of him. Roughie. LALUME (6) was unsuited to the good track at Tauherenikau 4 weeks ago, and she is bred to relish getting up over more ground. Her trial form earlier in the year was good, and she can make amends in this. STREET APPEAL (4) will be peaking third up, and the extra 300m will suit her. Each way value.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Leanagh Lad each way.
6 03:34 MANAWATU SHEARING 1700m
Just a moderate tempo headed by Keepitinyourwallet, Cuba Street and Platinum Sixty Six. TARZADOR (7) followed up an encouraging effort fresh at Ellerslie with a game third at Cambridge on their poly track 11 days ago. Dropping back from 2000m to 1700m won't bother her, and she should be right in the finish again. OUR GIULIA (5) failed to run at Whanganui just over 6 weeks ago, and her freshen up would have done her no harm. She drops 4kg after a claim, and she is capable of finishing a lot closer this time. Each way value. TIMEX (4) ended up getting too far back at Otaki last time out, and that run is best overlooked. She has a superior gate here, and she is worth another chance. PLATINUM SIXTY SIX (2) resumed with a good run for second on a heavy track at Whanganui, and her record is even better on this surface. With luck from a wide gate, he can take this out. LURCH (1) was runner-up when resuming, and he should be right in the finish again.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Our Giulia each way value.
7 04:06 THE PAVEMASTERS ASHHURST-POHANGINA CUP 1400m
Expecting Wonderboy to take up the lead at a genuine tempo. EXAGGERATION (2) failed to fire in his only run this season when fresh up at Waverley in the spring. All of his form has been on this track, including 3 wins, and at this level, with the aid of a 2kg claim, he will be hard to beat. KOSTA (4) resumed with a solid effort for second at Tauherenikau 4 weeks ago, missing out on the win by only a short-head. He makes his poly track debut, but is trained here, so expect another big run. Each way. SAM'S TURN (8) was a touch flat when finishing fourth at Waverley last time out, and he probably enjoys a bit more space between his runs. He carries 4.5kg less this time, and his only win came on this track, so stick with him. Can win. DOUBTFUL SOUND (1) resumes from a spell on a track where he has a strong record, including 4 wins. A recent trial will have him ready to run a race fresh. Include in all top 4 combos. WONDERBOY (7) is a lightly tried 5YO resuming from a spell. He was third at a recent trial, and he will be ready to rumble. Include.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Kosta and Sam's Turn each way.
8 04:35 ROWDEN ELECTRICAL SERVICES LTD SPRINT 1000m
Expecting a genuine tempo. DANCING SHADOW (6) is much better suited when allowed to make the pace, and she stuck on gamely for third at Waverley last start. He has another good draw, and with 4kg less to carry, he may take them all the way. KA YING LUCKY (2) has had excuses in his last couple of starts, and he will have his first run this prep on the poly track. He can make full use of the pole position, and he is ready now to put his best hoof forward. Each way value. KAKADU (3) will have no fitness concerns third up from a spell, and his best efforts have been on a poly track. Include in all top 4 combos. FELUCCA (8) had some market support fresh up, and she will be better for that run. Don't risk her.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Ka Ying Lucky each way.
