TAB Maiden Plate 800m
Genuine pace with Ibegood taking up the running ahead of Brave Emma and Claw Machine. BETTER SWEET (9) was in the betting at Toowoomba on debut but just ran into a couple better on that occasion. Was then tipped out for further time to furnish and has since tuned up for this with a recent trial placing. Gets in well at the weights with the 2kg claim and should be going very close to shedding the maiden tag. Former Victorian BRAVE EMMA (7) has had a few chances but has finished runner-up in both runs since joining the new stable and looks to be on the doorstep of a maiden victory. Looms as the main danger. IBEGOOD (8) finished second in all three Darwin outings before switching yards. Respect any market confidence. The well-related STAFFO (13) (half to G3 winner Shamalia) best of the rest on debut. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Better Sweet. |

SCHWEPPES QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1100m
Propaganda and Jimmy's Brother can be prominent. Field has been thinned out due to scratchings. JIMMY'S BROTHER (2) broke the maiden status at the latest effort and will have derived a stack of confidence from that win. MISS LEANA (7) got the maiden out of the way when resuming before just finding one better at Toowoomba last time out. Drawn to get all the favours from the inside alley and should be right there when the whips are cracking. PROPAGANDA (4) was well-found on debut and didn't let supporters down with a dominant Kilcoy victory. Winning rider Allen sticks and can go back-to-back to start the career. THE WHEELBARROW (3) resumes. Last seen shedding his maiden tag at the Sunshine Coast at the start of this season. SUGGESTED PLAY: Boxed Trifecta 2,7,4,3. |

GREAT NORTHERN Maiden Handicap 1350m
No recognised leader engaged but Madame Cody possesses enough dash to take advantage of a low draw and take it up. TULONG (2) is unlucky to still be a maiden hitting the top-five in eight of nine starts to date and strikes a very winnable contest here. Gets 3kg off from the favourable draw and should be going very close to breaking the maiden status. PEAK MISS (12) has gotten better with each run this time in and looks to be building up to a maiden victory. Can find the winners' circle. DASHING MARS (8) next in line from the inside alley. Resumed at the Gold Coast on Dec 27 where he stuck on solidly enough over 1400m. Will have taken valuable fitness from that outing. MADAME CODY (11) is another coming into this contest second run from a spell after she led and faded over 1300m at Toowoomba. SUGGESTED PLAY: Tulong to break through. |

IAN LEAVERS MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 2150m
Up And Comer to take charge ahead of Jimmy Nails at a good tempo. Looks a wide-open contest. DEMARCAY (1) is a two-time winner over this track and trip, gets 2kg off with the claim and is drawn to get a gun run in transit from the inside marble. Ticks plenty of boxes for a race like this. LOVEY DOVEY (10) has been right there at the past few outings and will be rock-hard fit for this 2150m contest. Her only win came around this circuit and must be respected out of the champion Waller yard. Expected to play a role. GOOD PHILLY (6) placed over this course and distance two back before hitting the frame in town at the latest effort. Has to be included. UP AND COMER (8) is a last-start winner who shouldn't be slept on. SUGGESTED PLAY: Siding with Demarcay. |

GORDON'S GIN Class 4 Handicap 1666m
Sir Goldalot has good early speed and can set a decent tempo. NORTH COURT (6) is a consistent conveyance who has only missed the top-five once in seven career efforts. Won two back at Toowoomba and should be at his peak fourth run from a spell. Gets out to the mile for the first time. Gives the impression he'll appreciate it. GOING TO THE SUN (10) goes around at a double figure quote. Is a last-start winner who shouldn't be dismissed lightly. FLYING CELICA (8) makes some appeal despite the wide draw. Has placed in two of her past three starts since winning over the mile at Toowoomba. SIR GOLDALOT (7) has a sense of timing about him third up and getting out to the mile. SUGGESTED PLAY: Boxed Trifecta 6,10,8,7. |

BARRIER REEF POOLS BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1200m
Keen battle for the lead with Alfa Lily, Cardiologist and Resurrected in advance of Maragical and Nightcapped. ALFA LILY (13) loves this track and trip with two wins and a placing from four attempts and will be high on confidence following that last-start victory here. Gets in on the minimum weight and should be going very close again. RESURRECTED (1) had put four wins together on the bounce before not measuring up in the Murwillumbah Cup before the spell. Revved up for this with a recent trial and a strong showing while fresh would not surprise. MARAGICAL (9) will find this easier than what she contested before the break and can run a big race while fresh. NIGHTCAPPED (10) rounds out the selections in an open contest. SUGGESTED PLAY: Boxed Trifecta 13,1,9,10. |

SEVEN BENCHMARK 78 Handicap 1350m
Been A Secret to take charge ahead of Mishani Crown at a solid tempo.
SOUTHERN CHARM (11) wasn't disgraced in Saturday metro grade last time out and should find this assignment much more to her liking. Is yet to miss a drum in three spins around this circuit and should be right there when the judge calls a halt. MISHANI CROWN (10) has put back-to-back wins together and it's hard to knock mares in form. Gets 1.5kg off with the claim and can bring up the hat-trick here. BEEN A SECRET (12) has remarkably hit the top-five at her past 20 starts and doesn't know how to put in a poor one. Don't dismiss lightly. TREPORTI (4) has placed two of three over this track and trip and is usually thereabouts. In the mix. DIANA'S AFFAIR (7) strips fitter second-up, draws the inside alley and gets 3kg off. Ticks a few boxes. SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning towards Southern Charm. |

TEMPUS TWO Class 2 Plate 1100m
In the small field Snitzond and Runaway Tycoon are expected to take up the running. Competitive affair to close out the card. Former Victorian SAVAGERY VIBE (13) is having her first run for the new stable but should find this easier than what she was contesting down south. Revved up for this with a recent trial and trust that the Gollan yard has her up to the mark for this. Can run a big race while fresh. JENCHICK BOOM (12) has a win and a second from two starts here and has really only put in one poor one in ten starts to date. Include in calculations. CINDERSEA (14) has displayed ability in all three NSW outings and looks the runner in this field with the most upside. Top-three commodity. SNITZOND (6) returned in fine fashion with a strong Toowoomba victory and gets some weight off with the claim. Can go back-to-back. SUGGESTED PLAY: With Savagery Vibe. |
