WANGANUI FUNCTION CENTRE MDN 1340m
Pace genuine with Ocean Beau and Brian pressing hard closely followed by Think I Got Cha and Optimus Prime. PETITE ROCHER (12) has been given plenty of trial experience before making her debut, and will have the aid of a 3kg claim from the stable apprentice. Only a wide gate is against her, and she is the one to beat. SLOSHED (5) found nothing in the run home after having a good trip when resuming from a spell at Otaki 15 days ago. He strips fitter, and the extra 140m will help him. Hard to beat this time. STREET APPEAL (6) finished less than a length from the winner when second fresh up at Otaki just over 3 weeks ago. She has also copped a wide gate, but can still figure in the top 4 again. THINK I GOT CHA (1) has not been too far off them in 2 starts back from a spell on wet tracks. He will be peaking third up, and maybe a firmer surface can help. Include. BANQUELLA (13) has the blinkers on after a sound debut effort just over 7 weeks ago. She will be a lot more competitive this time. SUGGESTED PLAY: Petite Rocher won't have to be a star to win this race on debut. |

WANGANUI-TARANAKI RACEHORSE OWNERS ASSOCIATION OPN 1340m
Only a small field with Cosentino likely to find a comfortable lead. SINDEE (3) has been a beaten favourite in both of her starts back from a spell, and though she is up in class, she will only face 4 other runners. She has won twice on this track and should get the job done this time. Follow your money. HERBERT (1) has been freshened up since his last start for sixth at Waverley just over 8 weeks ago. He is unbeaten in 2 starts here, and the small field offers him a great chance to find some good form again. COSENTINO (2) has been racing well in some tougher company recently, and he will be at his peak fitness fourth up from a spell. He will relish the extra 140m and can take this out. BASEL WARRIOR (5) let down with a powerful finish to score by well over 2 lengths at Te Rapa 3 weeks ago. A repeat of that run takes him close again. DUNEAGLE (4) has won here, and sometimes in small fields, it is the outsider who wins. Not for us, but can't be totally left out. SUGGESTED PLAY: Sindee to win. |

LA NUOVA DRY CLEANERS 3YO 1200m
Cracking tempo with Waka and Cremant leading the way. QUEEN'S EVIDENCE (3) was good enough to run third fresh up in the G3 Gold Trail Stakes at Ellerslie in the spring, and she was a run short when finishing fourth there a month ago. She has 2.5kg less to carry this time and is the one to beat. WAKA (1) was heavily backed and delivered the goods on debut at New Plymouth just over 5 weeks ago. A firmer surface won't bother him, and he can win again. DIPLOMATIC (2) only battled over the final stages on debut at Te Rapa, but still managed to finish a game fourth. He will continue to improve with racing and can figure in the top 3 this time. BELLE NOIRE (5) won her maiden fresh up at Tauranga, and then was third at Arawa Park a fortnight ago. She has the pole position and can hold her form. Each way. HELLO MY DEAR (6) is still a maiden and she was a beaten favourite at Otaki last time out over 1400m when trying to lead all the way. She drops back to 1200m, and is worth another chance. SUGGESTED PLAY: Queen's Evidence can win this. |

TERRY BROTHERS 1200m
Showbastian Coe, Mr Fortrus and Rabega to match motors but there will be other pressure. TOLSTOY (2) raced with purpose on wet tracks last prep, winning twice from just the 6 starts. He might need the run, but has won 3 times over the trip, and if ready, he will be hard to hold out. Check the market. EGYPTIAN QUEEN (4) was sent for a spell after being late scratched before her last run just over 10 months ago. She has had a couple of tune-up trials last month, and is nicely placed after a 3kg claim. She should go close here, especially if any money comes for her. PLATINUM DESIGNS (5) resumes from a spell and has won fresh up in the past. His record over this trip is only modest, but he is stronger now, and from a decent gate, he can't be taken lightly. RABEGA (7) has only been lightly tried, and his record is very good, adding a win to those stats here 6 weeks ago. He likes the track and can repeat the dose. COOPER (3) was beaten by a wide draw at Te Rapa 4 weeks ago, and was a big fresh up winner here before that. He is better placed on this track, so go again. SUGGESTED PLAY: Rabega each way. |

SMART NATURALS 1340m
Solid tempo likely from Only The Lonely and Kia Kaha. KIA KAHA (5) set the pace and stuck on gamely for third at Taupo nearly 2 weeks ago over a similar trip. She is improving all the time and was only beaten by a nose at Arawa Park before that. She has a good draw and is overdue for another win. THE LIQUIDATOR (4) showed plenty of promise in his initial prep, before being put aside to mature. He is a 6-year-old having only his sixth start, and his connections will be eager for him to make up for lost time. If he doesn't need the run, then he can win this. SHACKTIME (12) has only failed on wet tracks, with her only win in 4 starts being on firmer footing. She resumes from a spell that would have done her the world of good, and a big run is expected fresh up. ONLY THE LONELY (8) was runner-up here when resuming and then gave a good sight in front for a long way at Trentham 3 weeks before weakening late to finish fourth. She is spot on with her fitness now, and won't be far away again. LADY ROSABELLA (10) has each-way claims at value. SUGGESTED PLAY: Kia Kaha can win this. |

ST JOHNS CLUB GOLFERS 1600m
Reasonable tempo with a few going forward, headed by Songwriter. EIZUS (5) lifted powerfully to win fresh up by a head at Waverley when clearing her maiden status, and was fourth after that at New Plymouth, before a brave effort for second at Trentham nearly 4 weeks ago. On top in this. SONGWRITER (2) led all the way when winning fresh up last prep at New Plymouth, and then held his form until being put aside for a spell. He has had a couple of tune-up trials and is more than capable of figuring in the top 3 in this sort of field. Check the market moves. JAEGER (3) started from a wide gate fresh up at Trentham 3 weeks ago and finished on late for sixth. He steps straight up to a mile, and with the advantage of a superior gate, he is good enough to take this out. LITIGATOR (4) is up from the South Island, where he broke through for an overdue maiden win in his penultimate start. He is resuming from a long spell, but must be worth persevering with. Check the market. RUJI (1) has improved with time and is not the worst in this. Include in all combos. SUGGESTED PLAY: Eizus can take this out. |

RIVER CITY CABS 1600m
Plenty of pressure expected over the mile. LEICA PEARL (7) was a tough winner on debut at Waipukurau before producing another good effort when finishing eighth in a stronger field than this at Trentham 5 weeks ago. She is at the right level, third up, and will be among the hardest to beat again. BAY EXPRESS (1) improved quickly second up to finish runner-up at New Plymouth by a neck 10 days ago. He is peaking at the right time, and with the step up to a mile being ideal, he can go one better. FIRST EDITION (6) managed to break his maiden status at Tauherenikau last year and will be a lot stronger this season. He has had a couple of tune-up trials and should be ready to rumble, especially if the money comes for him. PIERCING ARROW (2) did not fire at Ellerslie last time out, but expect a form reversal here. Stick with him. SUGGESTED PLAY: Leica Pearl can win this. |

LIQUORLAND WANGANUI 2040m
Mckhan should be able to comfortably find the front. AYTEEM (8) had a good trip at Otaki 15 days ago and fought on bravely to finish second as the favourite. He is up in class here, but won't be overawed, and with 4.5kg less to carry this time, he is the one to beat for us. PROBOY (6) stepped up to 2400m and got the job done by a short-head at Te Rapa 3 weeks ago. He was well found in the market that day despite some poor lead-up form. He has his confidence back now, and he can repeat the dose. COULTHARD (4) did not fire as a loose favourite at Trentham 3 weeks ago over a mile, but he has not missed a cheque in 4 starts on this track, and with a step up to a middle distance, he can make amends. Follow your money. MCKHAN (1) won a trial before finishing third fresh up over a mile at Otaki. The extra 440m is what he needs, and he is worth including in all combinations. FREEBELLE (5) has been thereabouts since winning over 1400m at Waverley in the spring. She was less than a length away from the winner last start, so stick with her. SUGGESTED PLAY: Ayteem is the one to beat. |
