NUM TIME COMMENT
1 11:50 HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL Maiden Plate 1100m
Southampton Nicco might not get things his own way up front with a few debutants engaged. EXCELBOOM (7) hails from the top Tony Gollan stable, and after making a bright start to this season, the wheels have dropped off in her last couple of starts. She will find this easier, and with the aid of a good draw, she will be hard to hold out. SOLAR SURFER (3) was only bloused out in the last stride at Warwick 2 weeks ago and was tying up after the race, which may have cost him the win. He faces a similar field and can go one better. RADIO WAVES (13) will be peaking third up, and he is worth including in all combinations, especially from a decent gate. APOLLO MOON (5) gelding by Anders from Cara De Luna on debut. Ran third at recent trial. Watch for any market confidence.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Excelboom can win this.
2 12:22 LADBROKES ODDS SURGE Maiden Plate 1400m
It's likely to be tactical given scant early speed. HEROIC DELANEYS (8) has been improving in each of her 3 starts to date. She is nicely placed over 1400m and can get the job done this time. CONCADOR (2) battled away fairly well for sixth over 2000m at Toowoomba 13 days ago and will be rock-hard fit for the drop back to 1400m. He cops a wide gate but can run into the top 4 placings. Watch for him late. PRINCE OF SYNERGY (3) ran a much better race for second here nearly 3 weeks ago, when beaten by a nose. He has a superior gate this time and can go one better. EXODINI (6) did not do much on debut at Ballina a fortnight ago, but he has the pole position this time and can finish a lot closer. Include in all combinations.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Heroic Delaneys can take this out.
3 12:57 FALVEY'S HOTEL GATTON RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1400m
Solid tempo with several going forward headed by Onomatopoeia. SHOT DOWN BY LOVE (6) caused an upset when winning her penultimate start here over this trip, and then was fourth last time out over a mile nearly 3 weeks ago. She has a better gate now, and she will be hard to hold out again. PEACH GALANTES (9) has been racing consistently and fought on well enough for third here last time out. She is drawn closer to the fence this time and should produce her usual honest effort. Each way all day. TOBA (2) ran the race of an improver at Warwick 2 weeks ago, and he does have a good record on this course. He gets a more favourable draw third up and is ready to put his best hoof forward. JEDIAH (5) was an overdue maiden winner at Toowoomba earlier last month, and was close to that form again when finishing fourth at Kilcoy last week. Stick with him on an each-way basis.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Peach Galantes each-way.
4 01:32 BARRIER REEF POOLS RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1400m
Orca can work over from a wide draw to lead.  TRUCK STOP HONEY (9) was a big maiden winner here in the spring, and she has been holding her form nicely since then. She can make full use of the pole position and is sure to be among the hardest to beat again. TREASURER (2) has not won for some time, but this field is not as strong as some of his recent assignments. Justin Huxtable in the saddle is a bonus, and the pair merits healthy respect. Each way. HAYAKU (3) was beaten by a wide draw at the Gold Coast nearly 2 weeks ago, and has a good record when racing on this circuit. He is peaking at the right time, and this level, a form reversal, is on the cards. SHOW ME THE STARS (6) is capable of better than her recent form suggests, and she is another who is worth including in all combinations to be safe. MISHANI PERSUASION (1) sat close to the pace and fought on gamely to finish runner-up at Chinchilla nearly 3 weeks ago. He benefits from a 3kg claim, and gets a chance to improve his modest track stats. Stick with him.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Hayaku each way.
5 02:06 QN HOTEL LAIDLEY Class 2 Handicap 1600m
A few sit handy but there won't be a great deal of early pressure. STANDLEE (6) stepped out to a mile for the first time here nearly 3 weeks ago and finished a game third when searching for a hat-trick of wins. He gets a big swing in his draw this time, and with 4kg less to carry, he can bounce straight back into the winner's circle. GLENRAY'S MATE (8) is a lightly tried 8-year-old gelding who is not short of ability when his mind is on the job. He gained a hard-fought win at Ipswich a month ago, and a similar run will take him close to winning this as well. BOLD TYRANT (10) had a rocky run off a wide gate here last time out, and should secure the right sort of trip from a superior gate this time. He is down in weight after a 3kg claim, and can figure in the top 3 this time. LUCONI (3) can mix his form, but is not the worst here.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Standlee will be hard to beat.
6 02:43 LADBROKES TOP 2/3/4 BETTING RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1100m
A keen contest with Mishani Steller and Gallery Master showing pace, along with Fanci Fleur crossing.  SO BE INSPIRED (5) drops back in class after a poor run at Murwillumbah 4 weeks ago, where maybe the loss of a shoe affected her that day. She looked much better at a recent Gold Coast trial, and the addition of a tongue tie could be the key. She cops a wide gate, but can still bounce back into form immediately. MISHANI STELLER (12) overcame a wide gate and a tough trip to score by nearly a length here 5 weeks ago. She is nicely weighted again with a 3kg claim, and from an even better gate, she can repeat the dose. FANCI FLEUR (6) went back to back on the picnic circuit, and her 2 starts since then have been a pair of solid third-place finishes. She cops a wide gate, but is still a must for all top 4 combos. MISTER TUDOR (7) changed stables and was produced to win fresh up off a long break at a recent Inverell picnic meeting a fortnight ago. He has obviously improved, and is an each-way threat again. MISS ZERMATT (4) has been disappointing since winning fresh up at Kilcoy. Go again.  SUGGESTED PLAY: So Be Inspired can win this.
7 03:23 NATIONAL BLOOD DONOR MONTH RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1100m
Off the inside draw Jidayubori should boot up and lead at a solid tempo. LOVE TO ALL (6) was close up when finishing second here fresh from a spell, and then ran on too late for third at Warwick a fortnight ago. Her only career win has been when third up from a spell, and she looks perfectly placed to get the job done this time. QICKWIT (3) is heading the right way with her form and was less than a length from the winner when runner-up here nearly 3 weeks ago. He slides down in class this time and can go one better. WORLDY SPIRIT (12) followed up a big effort fresh up here at long odds, with a game win by a head at Dalby in her penultimate start. She ran on late last time out at Toowoomba, and is likely to be hitting the line hard here as well. If the pace is genuine, then she can have the last say. EXTREME ALLY (8) was second at her Queensland debut, and can take this out. Each way.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Worldly Spirit each-way.
8 04:03 MCNEIL FARMS BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1100m
Pace genuine with Ceekay's Choice and Betta Being Single pressing hard closely followed by Purosangue and Red Feather Boa. RED FEATHER BOA (7) made it 2 wins from her last 3 starts when leading all the way to score by over 2 lengths here 5 weeks ago. She stays in the same grade, and an extra 2kg should not be enough to stop her from going close to repeating the dose. PUROSANGUE (16) has not lived up to his earlier promise, but did show more fight when finishing fourth at Toowoomba nearly 3 weeks ago, when setting the pace. He is third up for Mark Currie, and the key this time will be Justin Huxtable replacing an apprentice. Stick with him. Can win. BETTA BEING SINGLE (8) was suffering from heat stress after her last run at the Sunshine Coast, and her form prior to that is the guide to use. She steps up a further 100m and can make amends. VEGA NOVA (15) did a few things wrong at Toowoomba last time out, after winning there fresh up. Stick with her.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Purosangue each-way.
9 04:43 SAVE THE DATE - AUSTRALIA DAY LONG WEEKEND RACEDAY 25TH JANUARY BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1400m
Solid tempo with Allezizzy to lead but under plenty of pressure in a keen early contest. MOOTESSA (7) was an upset winner fresh up at Ipswich, and her next couple of stars have been in tougher company. She has not missed a cheque on this track, and will have the aid of a 2kg claim to help offset her weight rise in this easier grade. Hard to beat this time. COOL PANELS (16) found the right race when resuming with a comfortable win by half a length at Kilcoy 3 weeks ago over 1200m. The extra furlong won't bother him, and he can repeat the dose. RARE MOON (14) battled on fairly well when finishing fifth at Toowoomba nearly 4 weeks ago, and she did win on this track near the ned of October. She might want some cut in the ground, and with conditions to suit, she can figure in the top 3. I'LLTELLYOUSO (12) was back in form at Beaudesert 9 days ago, and Ryan Wiggins will keep the ride. She should be strong enough now to cope with 1400m for the first time, and she would not be a shock winner. KINGSLAND (6) was third last start off a freshen up, and he has top 4 claims in this.  SUGGESTED PLAY: I'lltellyouso each way.
