Donald Steel Metaland Maiden Plate 1620m
Lady Dexterous has good early speed and can set a decent tempo. EAU DE COLOGNE (2) was put away after a moderate debut run but showed rapid improvement when first-up over 1600m. The fitness benefit from that run will serve him well here and is very well drawn. VELIA (14) will be better for the experience of two runs and looks suited by the step up in trip. TULCHAN (8) got out to 2400m last prep and will be better over further but the inside alley gives him his chance to play a role over this trip fresh. VIDACII (9) is also well drawn and can improve after a couple of runs back. SUGGESTED PLAY: Eau De Cologne to win. |

Mackays Family Jewellers Maiden Plate 1000m
Not a great deal of pace on paper so it may be left to one of the debutants to take it up. The form guide says FAT BOTTOM GIRL (9) is second-up here, but she took part in a recent abandoned race at Warracknabeal and it is worth noting there was good money for her that day. She's going to be good odds here but it is not a strong race and she looks a nice chance. THROW ME A KISS (14) has shown enough to suggest she can play a role on debut, despite the wide draw. FRIENDZONED (17) should be right around the mark. RENEGE (4) kicked off in town last prep. He has been solid and a recent jump out win hinted at him coming back better this time around. SUGGESTED PLAY: Something on Fat Bottom Girl. |

Weir's IGA Donald 2YO Classic 1200m
Good speed anticipated with a large representation of first starters lining up. Feature race of the day, which has thrown some good winners in the past, and tricky affair with so many first-starters, many from top stables. Siding with race experience, though, and GRANDSTRAZ (11) has trialled up nicely after a two-start debut preparation when he beat home all bar the subsequently-Stakes-placed Beskar at second start. Drawn to be prominent throughout. BELLA PIETRA (8) didn't far so well at the draw but will be better for the good debut showing in a handy Pakenham maiden. DIAMOND GUST (2) will find this a touch easier than the debut run. SUGGESTED PLAY: Grandstraz each way |

Donald Motor Lodge BM52 Handicap 1620m
Sir William Bruce to set a strong early tempo joined by Pin Drop pushing on from an outside draw. SPIRIT ANGEL (5) has been a model of consistency of late and has been going around in races that appear to have had a little more depth than this. SMART ELISSIM (7) has been well-held at his past couple, but was good the three starts prior and will appreciate the quality of this race. SIR WILLIAM BRUCE (10) has been building up to a win, albeit in lower-class races in the Riverina. HIBERNIA QUEEN (14) is drawn to run an improved race. SUGGESTED PLAY: Spirit Angel to win. |

Pacific Fuel Solutions BM52 Handicap 1620m
Genuine pace headed by Cent To War who should kick up along the paint. ALBANIAN STAR (5) scored his first-up win in picnic grade but will find this more to his liking than the runs since. KHANT BEE (16) is another who has been racing in stronger company than he meets here and should be nearing peak fitness after two runs back from a spell. BLACK MARMALADE (12) doesn't look a winning chance but might sneak a top-four spot at big odds. He goes in the wider plays along with DUBAI LEGEND (3) who is racing consistently well and has the good jock up. SUGGESTED PLAY: Albanian Star to win. |

Sweet Cheval is expected to lead at a strong tempo. MACHINEGUNRHON (11) was well held first-up despite getting into the top three but should have come on from that and significantly gets Linda Meech and a barrier that presents her with options. SWEET CHEVAL (5) trialled up well ahead of the first-up run, which was over 1300m, so won't be lacking for fitness here. Where he gets to from the wide draw could be the trick here. SERIN (4) found just the one better first-up and is drawn to again play a key role here. NEON'S LAST (1) broke the maiden in SA at big odds last time out but has changed stables since and trialled well in preparation for the return. ATOYO (3) has been building up to a win this prep and looks ready for 1200m now. SUGGESTED PLAY: Machinegunrhon to win. |

Mallee Landscapes 0-58 Handicap 1200m
A solid tempo expected with Stirrup pressing from an outside draw, joined in the lead by Kool Kat. IT'S MAUI'S GOLD (6) was good stepping up to 0-64 grade over this trip last Sunday, gets in beautifully after the 2kg claim and has a lovely low draw to boot. LAMINAR (4) has been comfortably held at his past couple, but they were in races that appeared slightly stronger than this and a repeat of the first-up run would see him go close. WHITSON (2) is another who probably needs to discover form from three runs ago to take this out, but he gets a favourable alley and Dean Yendall. CAPITAL LOVER (1) will have taken great benefit from the first-up run. GRINZINGER LOVE (5) will find this more suitable than the first-up run at Cranbourne, when she started hard in the market. SUGGESTED PLAY: It's Maui's Gold to win. |

Buloke Plumbing 0-58 Handicap 2200m
Strong tempo with The Stock Route, Bergasun and Grate Crack going forward ahead of Dashing Donkey and Koyuga Breeze. FINNHUGH (11) turned in his best run for a while last weekend when he hit the line well to grab second on his home track. That should top him off nicely after a couple of runs back from a freshen up and the fact he is backing up can be considered a positive. The maiden win of AHAB (1) was a long time coming, but he's in great hands and could go on with things now. EYES TO ME (9) was beaten a long way last start but was good first-up the start prior and he should be nearing peak fitness. KOYUGA BREEZE (6) is deep into the campaign now but is another coming through the 2100m race at Horsham last week and he'll be better for having that run under the belt. BERGASUN (2) was a good winner last time out, six weeks between runs, and looks to have more upside than most. SUGGESTED PLAY: Finnhugh each way. |

Pretty Panda and Boltonova can be prominent. BON SHADOW (1) is a long time between wins and might be past his best but hasn't contested a race as winnable as this for a while. The 1.25-length 2nd to Big Me in BM70 grade three runs back looks lovely form this and he's drawn ideally. BEAUKATI (10) was a big drifter first-up but was beaten less than 1.5 lengths in track record time. SANDRINE (15) finished two lengths away from the winner last start but the three runs prior were all good enough to shake the life out of this. MONSOON REINS (8) should be forgiven for last start given he was a first-up winner and had trialled well coming into the preparation. SUGGESTED PLAY: Bon Shadow to win. |
