NUM TIME COMMENT
1 01:58 Scope Building Handicap 1200m
They should run this along with Hebel and Prophesier taking it up over Stella Bystarlight. STELLA BYSTARLIGHT (6) has found some form in 2 starts here since moving from Victoria and was runner-up on this track nearly 4 weeks ago in a stronger field. She is the one to beat at this level, especially with the aid of a 2kg claim. CHUCKAMICKY (3) made it 2 wins from her last 3 starts when scoring here by a nose last time out in a slightly tougher grade. She cops an extra 2kg but can still repeat the dose. TANGO STEPZ (2) had a tough trip last time out but still stuck on gamely to finish third. She steps up to 1200m, which is as far as she wants, but a repeat of her last run will see her among the top 3 again. BOLD TROPIC (1) is a tough locally trained gelding who failed to fire after having a torrid trip here nearly 7 weeks ago. He has a better draw this time and can bounce straight back into the money at this level. VITESSE BREEZE (4) ruined his chances by making a slow start last time out. He is worth another chance.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Stella Bystarlight to win.
2 02:37 Imparja Handicap 1200m
Tactical given the lack of speed. RIVER FROST (1) capped off a good effort for third here in her penultimate start with a comfortable win as favourite nearly 2 weeks ago. He slides down in class and is now rediscovering the form that he showed earlier in his career in Sydney. Go again. MUSELET (7) has shown some improvement in her last couple of starts and will notice the drop in grade here from her last start. Danielle Hirini in the saddle is a plus, and she would not be a shock winner of this race at a price. SUPREME GOAL (2) ran a couple of good races at the start of this prep in the same grade as this, and he will find this assignment easier than his last couple of starts. Each way. ANOTHER VAL (3) has been battling to find his best but can do so in this sort of field. Include in all combinations.  SUGGESTED PLAY: River Frost to win.
3 03:07 JJ'S Waste and Recycling Handicap 1100m
Solid tempo with Buckleup Buddy to lead but under plenty of pressure in a keen early contest. FORGETABOUTIT (4) did not recover after making a slow start last time out and had to make do with finishing fourth. He won a similar race to this before that and can secure the run of the race from his handy gate. He is good enough to make amends here. DR VENKMAN (3) had no luck off a wide gate last time out over 1400m, and a drop down to 1100m will do him no harm. He loses nothing with Danielle Hirini in the saddle, and is worth another chance, especially from a superior gate. CHECKTHEMENU (1) won on debut at Swan Hill and will be resuming from a new stable after a short spell. He will find the racing in this area more to his liking, and he can take this out fresh up. Use the market as your best guide. BODMIN BOY (7) recovered from a slow start to race handy here nearly 2 weeks ago and fought on gamely to finish second. He has the pole position this time and is long overdue to break his duck. BUCKLEUP BUDDY (2) was an easy last-start maiden winner. Stick with him.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Dr Venkman each-way.
4 03:37 Ladbrokes Odds Surge Handicap 1100m
Several of these have good gate speed so a strong tempo is expected. STARTON (5) has been fair in his last couple of starts and is nicely placed in this. Both of his wins on this track have been over this trip, and he only needs the right run to be hard to hold out in this. SQUARE CUT (3) is a very consistent type who does not win often but is always trying his best. He slides down in class from his last run and is overdue for his next win. BOY BIG (4) built his form nicely before recording a well-deserved win here nearly a fortnight ago. He has raced well in this stronger grade in the past and will still be on the up with his fitness. The pole position will help, and he can double the dose. CHIEF WHITE SOCK (6) worked hard all the way here 4 weeks ago and stuck to his task gamely, finishing third and half a length from the winner. He should again be among the hardest to beat.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Chief White Sock each-way.
5 04:12 Red Centre Technology Partners Handicap 1400m
Tactical given the lack of speed. SUPREME ATTRACTION (1) finished fourth behind the best horse in Alice Springs at the moment in his penultimate start and then tried hard when finishing runner-up here nearly 2 weeks ago over 1100m. He is probably better over 1400m these days, and he can go one better. VENTING (4) is dropping back from a modest effort over 2000m in a stronger field last time out. The small field size here will suit him, as will the drop back to 1400m. Stick with him. GREAT GUST (3) has more upside than most in this, and he made it 2 wins from 3 starts this prep with a brave nose win here last time out. He is nicely placed after a 2kg claim, and there is no reason why he can't double the dose. GREAT BUY (2) had no luck here last time out after some strong form before that. He only faces 4 others this time and is expected to bounce back straight away. MATHEMATICS (5) is a durable veteran who isn't without some top 3 claims, given the right run. Don't totally ignore him.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Supreme Attraction each-way.
6 04:50 Hoskings Jewellers Handicap 1600m
Solid tempo anticipated with Better Not Fuss and Taipan Tommy leading the way. TAIPAN TOMMY (5) battled away well enough when finishing fourth here last time out, and he will appreciate the step up to a mile this time. He can make full use of the pole position to settle handy and can bounce back into winning form here. MI MIJO (8) has a handy record over this trip and has already made a bright start to this prep. He followed up his second-up win with a brave run for third here last time out. Stick with him on an each-way basis. BETTER NOT FUSS (1) did not run on as expected last time out and is sliding down in grade here. He cops a tough gate but may not be the worst to bolster any combination bets. PRINCESS PANCAKES (4) is racing her way back into form and was runner-up here nearly 2 weeks ago over 1400m. The extra furlong won't be a problem, and she has first 4 claims again in an even lineup.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Taipan Tommy on top.
