NUM TIME COMMENT
1 12:19 FINCIERGE Maiden Handicap 1800m
Anticipate Casterly Rock, Will It Snow and Kobability to set a strong tempo. CASTERLY ROCK (1) has been knocking on the door since making the move from Sydney, and he kicked hard when finishing runner-up as favourite here nearly 2 weeks ago. He has the pole position and can break through for that overdue first win. MAZIS (2) finished fifth fresh upon a heavy track at Doomben last time out and had won a trial before that. He will be spot-on for this assignment and will be suited by the step up to a middle distance for the first time. Stick with her on an each-way basis. CHAMPAGNE ROUGE (6) will be peaking third up from a spell, and the 1800m will suit her right down to the ground. She ran on strongly from well back at Ipswich last time out, and can figure in the top 3 this time. OUT OF LUCK (8) has been thereabouts lately and has the blinkers off for the first time. Each way value.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Mazis each way.
2 12:54 TILERS TRADE CENTRE Maiden Plate 1000m
Genuine tempo from Chiaro Di Luna leading Overtern.  SOCIALLY RED (12) went close to winning a race when trained in Victoria and will be making her Queensland debut. She will be a lot stronger this year and does come to hand quickly. If not in need of the run, she will be among the hardest to beat. MAJOR LOOK (3) will also be making his Queensland debut after some solid efforts this year in Sydney. He benefits from a 3kg claim, and he will be hard to hold out, especially if the money comes for him. WANT TO BE PROUD (6) did not fire in 3 starts last prep and was put aside for a freshen up. He resumes from a new stable and will be ready to run a race. Each way value. SPRING BIRD (13) still has a bit to learn, but the talent is there to win a maiden race at least. If she can make a better beginning, then she is capable of a top 3 finish.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Socially Red each way.
3 01:29 HUTCHINSON'S BUILDERS OPEN Handicap 1000m
Expecting a strong pace from the outset with plenty of speed engaged.  TIGER SHARK (1) ended her last prep with a second-place finish in the Listed Goldmarket at the Gold Coast in January. She is resuming at an easier level, and despite usually needing her first run back from a spell, she is more than capable of taking this out fresh up. MAXIMUM OUTPUT (6) is a handy locally trained gelding resuming from a spell with a recent trial under his belt. He has been off the track for just over a year, but gets in here with only 51kg on his back after a claim. Use any market moves as your best guide. SITUATION ROOM (2) only peaked on his run late when finishing seventh fresh up in a stronger field at Eagle Farm 7 weeks ago. He drops down in class and is expected to improve quickly, especially with the advantage of the pole position. Each way value. NATIONAL CHOICE (3) ended his last prep with a win here during the spring to remain unbeaten in 2 starts on this track. He is resuming after over a year off the track, and the market will be your best guide.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Tiger Shark to win.
4 02:04 TRAVIS SCHULTZ & PARTNERS QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1000m
Reasonable tempo with Bonfire Spark probably leading but a few others should keep her honest.  BELLE AFFAIR (8) failed to fire fresh up but did a few things wrong in the running. She won her first race here on debut. She has a good draw and can bounce back into the money. On top. MELO MELO KAVA (9) ended her 2 starts initial prep on a winning note here by well over 2 lengths. She has been tuned up for this with a recent trial win, and from her good draw, she will be ready to rumble fresh up. BONFIRE SPARK (2) dropped in grade and demolished her 4 other rivals at Beaudesert 8 days ago on a heavy track. She does seem to prefer the soft ground, and with similar conditions, she can double the dose. ESTRONDO (1) did not kick on as expected after running a bottler for second fresh up last prep and was put aside for a spell. His only win came here as a juvenile, and with more time to mature, he can show his true worth this year. The pole position will help him, and he is worth including in all combinations.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Estrondo each way.
5 02:39 UNIQUENESS DESIGNER JEWELLER QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1000m
Many of these step out for the first time so a genuine tempo is expected. VOVO (16) won the latest of 2 trials and only finished a short-head off the winner when finishing second on debut here nearly 4 weeks ago on a heavy track. There is more depth to this field, but she will also be better for the experience. She is bred to revel in the wet ground, and she should pick up her first win before long. OH NOT REALLY (4) was in the money in both of his starts during his initial campaign in December and will be a lot stronger after his spell. He has also been showing plenty at the trials, and even from a wide gate, he can be a threat in this. ABENDER (1) hit the front late at Doomben last start and fought all the way to the line, despite being outfinished late and finishing third. The drop from 1200m to 1000m will help him, and he can go close to taking this out. CIPHERTEXT (10) has been a game runner-up in 3 of her 4 starts and has no problem with a wet track. She meets an even field, and is another with each-way claims.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Vovo to win.
6 03:14 SUNNYKIDS Maiden Plate 1400m
Pace strong with Papal Wars and Horsburgh leading with Intruder nearby. INTRUDER (2) ran his best race this prep when finishing runner-up by a nose here nearly 2 weeks ago over 1200m. He has been trying to win a race for some time, and he may now be reaching his full maturity. He is one of many chances in this field and could well get the job done this time. PEAK MISS (10) improved off a modest debut effort here with a better effort on the poly track 4 weeks ago, running on strongly to finish third. The extra furlong will help her, and she can figure in the finish again. PAPAL WARS (4) went close to breaking through during a spring campaign and is resuming from a spell that would have done him the world of good. He is only lightly tried for a 5-year-old gelding and is bred to improve with time. Don't risk him fresh up. GRAND TORINO (1) has been away from the races for nearly a year. He is bred to need some time, and was third in his only start last prep at Toowoomba. Use the market as your guide.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Intruder each way.
7 03:50 ALTITUDE SCHOLARSHIPS Class 1 Handicap 1800m
Expecting Suprendre to bounce to the front and lead from the low draw.  RUSSIAN MYSTIC (3) got back early on from a wide gate here nearly 2 weeks ago over a mile and ran on late, finishing runner-up. He has an extra furlong to travel this time and is overdue for his next win. LOVEY DOVEY (8) did nothing on debut at Doomben and then improved sharply to score by a neck at Ipswich just over 3 weeks ago. She is bred to continue to improve with racing, and despite a wide gate, she can double the dose. DOWN UNDER STUNNAH (11) steadily improved in each of her 3 starts and got the job done easily over 2200m here nearly 4 weeks ago. She has a future over a middle distance, and with the advantage of the pole position, she will be right in the finish again. SANCTUARY STORM (9) needed his first run back from a spell over 1350m on a heavy track at Doomben and will improve quickly with the step up to a middle distance. Each way claims in another very even field. SAVANNAH GANGSTER (1) has the blinkers on for the first time third up, and is not without some chance here.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Savannah Gangster each way.
8 04:30 FINCIERGE BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1000m
Solid tempo likely with A Touch From Fayt, Zouthur and Luvarchie prominent.  MAKE IT SO (5) has been well placed to win her last couple of starts and seems to appreciate having her runs well-spaced. He last start was nearly 6 weeks ago, and she gets to carry 2kg less this time. She has a good draw, and the hat-trick beckons. A TOUCH FROM FAYT (6) is also chasing down a hat-trick of wins after making it 2 wins on the bounce here nearly 2 weeks ago. She cops a wide gate, but if the track is wet, it could be an advantage to be drawn wide. Stick with her. PORT ERIN (2) has only been lightly tried for a 5-year-old gelding, but he has plenty of ability. He comes to hand quickly and looked in good nick when finishing second in a recent trial. If he doesn't need the hit-out, then he would not be a shock winner. MISSILE ONE (9) raced close to the pace here nearly 4 weeks ago and was only a short-head away from winning on a heavy track. She slides down in class and is also returning to 1000m. Stick with her on an each-way basis, especially if the track is soft.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Make It So to win.
9 05:05 MATT GOLINSKI BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1400m
Loose Unit should have enough pace to lead a low-pressure contest.  LOOSE UNIT (2) is a very consistent gelding who was a game third fresh up on the poly track here nearly 3 weeks ago. All of his form has been on the turf track, particularly on this one. He is down slightly in grade, but with a 3kg claim, he carries 1.5kg less this time. Hard to beat. I'M HEROIC (7) is usually thereabouts at this level, and his recent brief spell would have done him no harm. He has the advantage of the pole position and loses nothing with Paul Hamblin in the saddle for the first time. Watch closely. HOLY FLASH (9) travelled well during the running fresh up at Dalby after making a tardy start, and fought on bravely to finish fourth, when clearly needing the hit-out. He strips fitter and is capable of taking out a race like this. JUNGLE JET (1) is resuming from a spell over a trip that is short of his best, but good stayers can sprint well when fresh, and this fellow is no exception. He has the aid of a 2kg claim, and can't be ruled out of a top 3 finish.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Loose Unit each way.
