Genuine pace with Fanyu taking up the running ahead of Peach Blossom and Jun Kuttara. SOUTHERN RAPID (6) was safely held when sixth last time out over 1200m at this track, beaten 3.5 lengths. That followed a win at this track at the previous outing. Best figures measure up. Sure to run well. VILLAGE STEEL (4) ran below expectations last time at this track over 1200m, finishing seventh and beaten 3.5 lengths. Deserves another chance. FANYU (1) resumes from a spell of ten weeks and is having her first outing under new trainer Masakazu Kawashima. Finished 14th at Fukushima over 1200m at the opening run last time in work. Worth plenty of thought on an each-way basis. SMASH THROUGH (2) was unplaced two runs back then again missed the frame last start over 1400m at Kawasaki, beaten 4.5 lengths into eighth. No surprise to see him in the frame.
