Sir Kingsford has good early speed and can set a decent tempo. Even edition of the Gold Cup with quite a few winning chances. One of those is WATADEEL (5), who was a strong winner last start and good when placed in the Balaklava Cup before that. Jacob Opperman sticks, he gets in one kilogram off the minimum and draws to get a midfield position with cover. He can win. SIR KINGSFORD (3) is better known for his talent over further than 1600m, but he was very good first-up and has a brilliant second-up record. He's drawn perfectly and can win as well. PUDDING (7) was no match for Watadeel last start but beat him home in the Balaklava Cup. He is honest and is sure to run well again. MARACOURT (8) won this race last year. Suspect he's going slightly better than his form looks on paper, but he is a quirky horse that will need things to go right. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Watadeel and Sir Kingsford.
