A race that lacks pace so expect a muddling tempo at best. LUNAR LOVER (4) delivered the hat-trick at Canberra, heavily bet, and couldn't have been more impressive. The 2400m is sure to suit, and Shinn's booking adds to the confidence. Gets the nod. AFFLUENTIAL (1) resumed on the Hillside over 3000m in stronger company, beaten a whisker. He'd returned from a West Australian preparation and hasn't missed a beat. Comes back to the shorter staying trip but maps for a soft run and is good enough to cope. PACIFIC CROSS (9) brings a string of placings and stepped up to this trip on the Hillside, last time. The inside barrier needs managing, but Lane is on replacing Shinn and is sure to give her every chance. Neasham-Archibald have switched FERNAO (3) from their Sydney barn on a 26-day return. Won a CL1 comfortably and then was okay over this distance and Kembla Grange as an equal favourite. Comes back a level with a 2kg claimer booked and is likely to race well. SUGGESTED PLAY: Going with Lunar Lover.
