Expecting Lucullan to find the lead but there will be plenty of pressure over the sprint course. LUCULLAN (4) is a very talented gelding who mixed his form during the spring but did remind us of his ability when winning easily at Whanganui in November. He has won his only start on this track, which is an advantage, and he does come to hand quickly. Follow any positive market moves. LEGALLY BINDING (1) had an excuse fresh up at Matamata and was not knocked around in the run to the line. He will be better for that hit-out, and will drop 3kg from that run thanks to a 2kg claim. Stick with him. Can win. RABEGA (2) got back on a slow back at Tauherenikau last time out, and ran on too late for sixth. He has been given plenty of time to get over that run, and he can figure in the top 3 here. COUNTRY SALON (5) may not be strong enough to see out a middle distance and will be dropping back from 2000m to 1200m for this. If the track is heavy, he is not the worst top 4 chance. NEPHETI (3) needed her first run back from a spell, and she will be a lot sharper for this. Include. SUGGESTED PLAY: Lucullan can win.
