Genuine tempo with Colophon leading the way. COLOPHON (1) is back after a break and kicked off his last campaign placing over 1200m at Kembla Grange. Has been switched north by the Freedman yard and his form reads well for this level of contest. Has a Beaudesert trial under the saddle and has strong claims. MERCHANT LADY (6) is also in good hands and has been within range at Doomben her last three. She can use an inside gate and is a live chance. VELOCE METEOR (9) did a good job second up, narrowly beaten at Grafton. Will be fitter again and the extra metres won't bother. In the mix. GIVING DELIGHT (4) has switched from NSW to the Robl yard and is proven fresh. Tends to get back in his races but deserves to be kept safe. SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to Colophon.
