Strong tempo with Sir Sublime and Lord Finland leading the way over Beauer. WAL'S ANGELS (1) made it two minor placings from as many runs this prep when he just missed at Nowra last start over 1400m. Just lacked a kick that day which suggests this step up in trip is timely. Enjoys the gun run from a nice draw and is ready to win. SHALAA JET (5) has only raced on a good track once and he returned a career-best figure when beaten narrowly over the mile at Queanbeyan. Cherry-ripe after three runs back and can make amends for that last start failure at Nowra. FIRE AND GEMSTONE (2) hasn't been all that far away of late in shorter races, the latest a 1.8 length defeat over 1210m here. Has won here at this trip so he can figure in the finish. BEAUER (7) returned from a nine-week let-up with a modest effort over 1435m here last time. Fitter and will appreciate the longer journey. Likely leader SIR SUBLIME (9) is up in class today but gets some weight relief and will run a cheeky race. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Wal's Angels with a saver on Shalaa Jet at big odds.
