Kilonova should lead at a keen tempo. EXTRAVAGENT LAD (1) tackled a strong open sprint at Canberra under 61.5kgs when resuming last start and wasn't a bad run, finishing just outside the placings. Drops 3.5kgs here after Nock's claim. Likely improver who gets all the favours from the inside gate and makes plenty of appeal. RANTAN (3) is in marvellous form. Won here over this trip two back then found 900m at Newcastle a bit sharp last time but was noticed flashing home for second. Sure to be hard to resist back out to a preferred distance. Lightly raced mare KILONOVA (12) returns from an 11-week break for Waller/McDonald. Just failed in an attempt to lead all the way first-up last prep over 1200m at Canterbury. This looks a perfect assignment while fresh. ISTOLEA MERC (2) resumes. Worked through his grades nicely last campaign with three wins. Respect. SUGGESTED PLAY: Extravagent Lad each-way.
