PIERONIMO (5) tackled a similar race to this at the Sunshine Coast 19 days ago and did well to hold on for a close third after racing up on the pace throughout. Three winners have come from that race so the form should stack up. At his best when he gets to this trip and a second career win is on the cards. MAURITA (12) appreciated the step up in distance last time out, recording a dogged win over 1990m at this track. Has been out to today's distance twice and filled a minor placing on both occasions. Serious threat. VERMEER (2) was in the money for the fourth time in five runs when runner-up over this distance at Grafton recently. Has only won two races, but both came here at today's journey. Well placed to grab an overdue victory. WHATJEUDOIN' (6) missed the frame for the first time in a while when midfield at Doomben last start. In a more suitable race today and can return to form. FLYING ROTHE (11) has found form, albeit on the Gold Coast poly. In the mix if it converts to turf. SUGGESTED PLAY: Pieronimo to win.
