Strong tempo primarily from On Song, The Radiant One and Tomasina over Rochello and Quartz Queen. MARTELL (1) made it 2 wins on the bounce since transferring to the South Island when scoring over 1100m at Gore 12 days ago. He prefers it when the ground is wet, so his connections will be pushing on while the weather is indifferent. He should really win again. THE RADIANT ONE (2) ended her last prep with consecutive placings, most recently at Riccarton 5 months ago. She usually takes a run to hit her straps, but has yet to miss a cheque on this course, including 2 wins. Don't risk her. ON SONG (7) resumes after a three-and-a-half-month spell, having won over 1200m at Riverton to kick off her last campaign. She has been patiently handled and has obviously needed time to mature. There is no doubting her ability, and she would not be a shock winner here. TOMASINA (8) showed early speed over 1100m at Gore last time out and battled away to finish third behind the top pick as favourite 12 days ago. She likes it here, so stick with her. INDUSTRIALIST (6) is worth considering fresh up. SUGGESTED PLAY: Martell should win again.
