A strong tempo is anticipated. STRATA (1) won last start over 1000m on this course as the favourite with Richard Fourie in the saddle. The manner in which she ran on at the finish was eye-catching. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. Racing over a longer trip she can follow up with another victory. MUNCHKIN (3) stayed on well when third of 11 over 1000m on this course last time out when well supported. He finished second to the top selection in his penultimate run. Having his third run this prep and in a fitter state should prove hard to beat. GUARDING THE WALL (6) set the pace over 1400m last time and fought on well to finish second of 14. He has won over this shorter distance previously and is worth considering. WORDSWORTH (8) is better than his last start run over 1000m on this course would suggest. His form prior to that outing was consistent. It is encouraging that Marco van Rensburg steps back into the saddle and he should be fighting out the finish.
