New York Star to take up the running at a moderate tempo. A plain maiden to start proceedings and it gives NEW YORK STAR (5) a chance to break through. Made a nice return over this course and distance a fortnight ago, finishing second after being handy from the outset. That was a career-high rating so she is back in great shape. Should be going one better with that run under her belt. HEARTATTACK JACK (2) was easily accounted for when resuming over this distance at Bairnsdale recently. Placed 1000m at Pakenham second-up last prep. Cannot be ruled out. Locally trained first starter MISS BOOM (6) is going well at the jump-outs and looks ready go. Early betting suggests she is right up to winning this. The race ends there, with BEYOND TURBO (1) and TORVEGA (7) battling it out for the minor end of the prize. SUGGESTED PLAY: Keen on New York Star.
