Plenty of pace established by Silver Longsword, Green Cherry and Captain Frank, with Gavius Maximus close at hand. XENOPHON (1) has run three good races to date. He showed speed over this distance at Scottsville last time, but did not go on with the effort in the latter stages. Piere Strydom is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him when it matters most. SILVER LONGSWORD (2) stayed on when third over 1160m at Turffontein last time. He is having his peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. Has each-way claims. POWER OF PEARLS (11) produced an encouraging debut effort over 1000m at Turffontein last start. She returns from a spell during which time she would have strengthened up. She should give the males a decent run for their money. CAPTAIN FRANK (8) ran a fair race over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. He is a progressive type and has place prospects.
