Concoction is expected to cross from a wide gate and lead. CONCOCTION (1) finished runner-up on debut, and the winner that day has gone on with it since then. He will eventually want more ground than 1400m, but he can still sprint sharply fresh up. Hard to beat in this modest field. DAIWA EXPLORER (2) has been close up in both of his starts to date, and he has more upside than most in this field. He has a good draw, and he should pick up his first win at short notice. BORROWED TIME (3) is heading the right way with his form, and his recent freshen up would have done him no harm after his last start third here nearly 2 months ago. He has a good draw, and he is worth including in all top 4 combos. MERCY (11) has also been freshened since a last start sixth at Whanganui just over 7 weeks ago. A wet track is no problem, and she adds to the puzzle. Include. LUCY (8) fought on bravely to hold second here 6 weeks ago, and with the aid of the pole position, she will try and take them all the way. Stick with her. SUGGESTED PLAY: Concoction can win this.
