SPARTAN STEEL (1) finished just shy of the frame in fourth last start after being in the firing line on the corner over 1400m at Taree, an improvement on his fifth on debut at Port Macquarie the run before. Drops back to the 1200m third-up and should be sharpened by the blinkers. Can break through now. MISS MIDAS TOUCH (8) returns. Showed positive signs in her debut prep and was well supported throughout. Hasn't been seen at any public trials but she gets in light with the 2kg claimer engaged and this does look a thin contest. Can make a bright return. PACIFIC REEL (4) was too bad to be true last start when tiring out quickly but had been knocking on the door prior. Drops back to a sprinting trip and is worth safe keeping. MOTION A NATION (5) returns and looks best of the rest. SUGGESTED PLAY: Siding with Spartan Steel.
