A solid tempo anticipated with Noivern and Watson ahead of Professional Lad and Quisiera. PROFESSIONAL LAD (9) showed good early speed last start and fought on well, finishing second over 1400m at Riccarton 2 weeks ago. He is peaking at the right time and is poised to go one better. QUISIERA (12) is knocking on the door with four consecutive minor placings, including a close second over 1400m at Riccarton a fortnight ago, where she was prominent throughout. She is overdue, and can get the job done this time. SHESASCORCHER (13) was up near the lead and finished a solid second in her first-up run over 1200m at Phar Lap a couple of weeks ago. There is more depth to this field, but Tina Comignaghi sticks with her, and so do we. STUDENT OF WAR (10) has had two starts, placing third on debut before finishing fifth over 1400m at Riccarton. He cops another wide gate, but once he puts it all together, he will win some races. NOIVERN (1) went close to winning last prep, and has the speed to cross from a wide gate. Each way. SHAKABRAH (2) is also worth including. SUGGESTED PLAY: Professional Lad can take this out.
