Tricky, given the lack of early speed. AKCELERANT (4) made progress in 4 starts when trained in the North Island, and has since joined the Joe Waldron stable. He has had some gear changes since his last run, and in a modest field fresh up, he is the one to beat. POLLY'S GURU (1) has placed four times in 11 starts, and battled away for fifth over 1335m at Gore last time out 12 days ago. 2 of his career placings have been on this circuit, and with the advantage of the pole position, he can figure in the top 3. BELAGIO BOY (2) was a game third over 1100m at Gore when resuming, and was doing his best work late. The extra 500m is key for him here, and he won't be far away. SPARKY (3) resumes from a spell and will be a lot stronger this season. He deserves respect. COURTE XENA (5) is one to watch for market movements and in a small field, she can't be left out of any combinations. SUGGESTED PLAY: Akcelerant is the one to beat in this very average lineup.
