NUM TIME COMMENT
1 12:35 WAHAROA TRANSPORT CO. (1995) LTD 1400m
Spirit Of Ardsley to take up the running at a moderate tempo. CONISTON (3) had won 3 trials leading up to a modest effort fresh up for seventh when starting as a warm favourite. He did himself no favours that day by racing greenly throughout. He would have derived plenty of benefit from that run, and can set the record straight in this. CONCURRENCE (4) makes his debut after some handy trials. He may want more ground soon enough, but with plenty of breeding to live up to, he will be ready to rumble on his home track. VODKA AND CAVIAR (8) was put aside after an encouraging effort on debut in her sole run as a juvenile. She will be stronger now, and with a couple of trials under her belt, she is worth including in all combos. POWHIRI (6) resumed and was out-paced in the Whanganui Guineas just over 2 weeks ago, but from the pole position in a far weaker lineup, she can be a rapid improver.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Coniston can win this.
2 01:08 GCM FEEDS 2000m
A few sit handy but there won't be a great deal of early pressure.  DJIBOUTI (6) was sent out as the favourite fresh up at Ruakaka off the back of an impressive Foxton trial win, and she motored home into third. She steps straight up to 2000m, and can get the job done in a modest field. SWEET TORQUER (8) will be trying a middle distance for the first time, and won't lack fitness after racing on the Cambridge poly track last time out. Warren Kennedy replacing an apprentice is the key for us, and she can figure in the top 3 here. LINIOUS (7) ran on strongly for second last start when producing a career high performance. If she continues to improve, then she can get a slice of this as well. DIDO BELLE (10) is a long time maiden who may have found the right race to break her top 3 duck. FOUR LEAF CLOVER (11) can only improve off her poor resuming run at Ruakaka, and stepping up from 1600m to 2000m will help her, as will a 2kg claim. Include at long odds to spice up any combos.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Djibouti should be winning this.
3 01:42 CLOTHIER FARMS 1050m
Zaharias should have enough pace to lead a low-pressure contest. ZAHARIAS (6) ended her promising juvenile campaign with an unplaced effort in the Karaka Millions. She has won the latest of a couple of tune-up trials, and on her home track in maiden company, she is the one to beat, especially with Grylls up. GENEVA QUEEN (2) is the stable mate of the top pick, and her best run was on debut when finishing second here in March. She has trialled up, and will be a lot stronger this season. Each way. MANGO LANE (9) won her only trial to date by a wide margin, and with the aid of a 2kg claim, she can make an immediate impact if no too green. CARNELIAN (11) is a local filly making her debut from the coveted pole position. Respect any market confidence.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Zaharias can win this.
4 02:19 RBC RACING 1050m
Cracking tempo with Places To Be and Mayfair Street leading the way.  EMMA TWIGG (5) won her debut on soft ground, and then put in a further 3 good efforts on test heavy tracks prior to having a well-earned spell. She will appreciate getting back on some firmer surfaces, and with a tune-up trial under her belt, she should go close to taking this out. PLACES TO BE (2) was put aside after just the one run for fourth at Ellerslie in late April. She was good enough to finish fourth in G3 company there earlier in the year, and despite no public trials, she will be ready to rumble fresh. BELLE DU MONDE (4) was above herself in condition when finishing a solid fourth fresh up at Taupo a month ago. She will be tighter now, and should be fighting out the finish this time. TRACK TESTER (1) showed talent last season, and resumes for a new stable. The quieter surroundings can help, and being a year older, he will be that much stronger. Follow any market leads. MAYFAIR STREET (6) won by a nose on debut as a juvenile, and then missed in Listed grade. Watch fresh.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Emma Twigg can win this.
5 02:54 WAHAROA HEAVY DIESEL 1200m
Anticipating good pressure with many of these at the races for the first time.  IFBYMAGIC (2) made steady progress in 3 starts last season, and looks on target for some even better returns this prep after winning a recent trial well enough by a head. A tricky gate is no help, but he is bred to further improve with time, and he is on top for us in this. NO CURFEW (12) has needed plenty of trial experience before making his debut, and though he still has some more maturing to do yet, he can make an immediate impact. Check the markets moves. TRIPLE THREAT (3) had to do a fair amount of work fresh up off a wide draw, and understandably tired in the run to the line. He has won a trial before that, and with a nice swing in his draw, he can improve sharply. DICKO'S DANCE (11) makes his debut on his home track, and Craig Grylls has stuck with him right the way through, keeping the ride here. If not too green, he should be very competitive at the first time of asking. MANORBIER (4) did not cope with the poly track last time out, and is expected to do much better here.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Ifbymagic can win this.
6 03:29 ENTAIN/NZB INSURANCE PEARL SERIES 1400m
Expecting Bonus Bond to take up the running with Mafia Whispers and Must Bee close at hand. ROCCADONNA (4) ended her last season with an unplaced effort in the G2 Lowland Stakes, and she too has gone the right way after her spell by winning a recent trial comfortably. Look for her late. LA DANZA (1) was placed in 4 of her 6 starts as a 3YO, ending that campaign in the G3 Championship Stakes out of the money. Her recent trial was good, and she can figure in the top 4 fresh up. MAFIA WHISPERS (9) has had some market support in her last couple of runs, and may improve on a firmer surface. Stick with her. VINTAGE ROSE (17) makes the field off the ballot, and her trial form has been near enough. Michael McNab picks up the ride, and there is sure to be plenty of market support for her.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Roccadonna can win this in a field with many chances.
7 04:04 WAHAROA INDUSTRIAL PARK 1400m
See You In Beijing to take charge ahead of She's A Surprise at a strong tempo.  TYPHOON LUCY (4) was put away to mature some more after an impressive maiden win here in March coming off a freshen up. She has trialled up nicely twice in preparation for her return, and from a good gate, with Michael McNab in the saddle, she goes on top for us. SAVINA (3) just battled in the NZ Oaks before having a spell, and before that she was a handy maiden winner over 2100m. She has plenty of scope to improve, and could snare a race like this fresh up, so watch her closely. THE TRENDSETTER (2) made her mark over ground last season, and she will be even better this prep. She is capable of sprinting well fresh up, so keep her safe in all combos. SEE YOU IN BEIJING (1) was a good third fresh up, and then just battled on a testing heavy track at Hawera last time out as the favourite. He has been given time to get over that effort, so follow your money, and stick with him. NIAGARA SKY (6) has raced her way back into some good form, and is worth including again.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Savina each way.
8 04:39 ROBERT BRUCE CLOTHIER MEMORIAL 2000m
Good tempo anticipated with Ark Kay and Arjay's Flight leading the way. SWEET BUT PSYCHO (5) has all the form on the board, and was less than a length from the winner in a good race at Te Rapa last time out when finishing second as the favourite. Dropping back from 2400m to 2100m will do her no harm, and no one would begrudge her a winning turn. ARJAY'S FLIGHT (7) was very disappointing as a warm favourite on the Cambridge poly track last week, and the fact that he is backing up so quickly would suggest that nothing is amiss with the gelding. Returning to a turf surface is what we like, and he deserve one more chance. Follow your money. EMPRESSIVE (10) has been building her fitness levels, and stepping up to 2000m for the first time this prep is the key. Each way value. JACK IN THE BOX (1) has seen his form taper off after his Arawa Park win at the start of July, but he is better than that, and if the track is heavy, then don't underestimate his top 4 claims. MUSCOVADO (2) did not fire in a tougher field at Ellerslie last start, but he is right in this.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Arjay's Flight each way.
